Gloomy Sunday

Hey, what do you guys think about the legend about this "Hungarian suicide song," that supposedly caused over 200 suicides worldwide. The writer wrote it for his ex-girlfriend he was going to get back together with, but, after she heard it, she committed suicide leaving a note that simply read "Gloomy Sunday." Many other deaths have been connected by ways of lyrics mentioned, sheet music held, or the actual song being played at time of death. Finally, the writer of the song committed suicide himself. This song is still banned in some parts of Europe, and was banned for a short time in the US. It has been covered by the likes of Billie Holiday,Sinead O'Connor, and Diamanda Galas. What do you guys think about this song/it's history??

diamanda and sinead's versions are my favorites...i think diamanda's version shows her true abilities as a singer, moreso maybe than anything else she's done. i wish she'd do more music like this.
