They should have at the very least picked a fluently French vocalist. Do you hire Britney Spears to sing at the Latin Grammys? No. I understand your point, but you used a bad example. American artists that don't speak Spanish perform on the Latin Grammys all the time to pull in American viewers. *NSYNC performed one of their songs in Spanish on the first Latin Grammys in 2000. oops [Edited 3/22/05 16:52pm]

Beyonce is also part french, so she might as well offended herself also (LMAO)
Beyonce's mom is French and African American...her last name was Beyonce, she then gave her first born daughter the name, so she could still keep the name going...once she got married it became Knowles... anyways...i think it was ok, but i don't speak french and was offended (LOL) but atleast she tried...and as for Prince, I'm dominican and boy oh boy! Prince shouldve studied the nominees a lil betta...but its cool, if his spanish is off, prince isn't perfect, but i'll give him an "F" for effort!

What do Americans have to do with the English language? Last I checked, it was invented by, oh, I dunno, the English. Dude, in your previous post you responded to a post with this exact same sentiment and it apparently went over your head. French Canadians have as much to do with the French language as Americans do with the English language.

...and for the record there should be a rule: if you can't speak the language you damn sure can't sing in it.

Did Ludacris perform? Did he rap in French?

But she can sing both without butchering them - that's the point. Of course I hate her voice, but the pronunciation is right on. So when say, Prince sings a song and doesn't pronounce the words exactly the way they are spoken, do y'all get as upset. This is seriously the most reterded argument I've ever seen on the org.

i could care less what her diction is..
but her performance of that song was horrible....the first song was fine...but the other two sucked... and im sorry, the songs should be performed by the people who originally did the songs....either that or dont perform the songs at all.. this years award show was a huge dissapointment.....the american idol award cattle call...the presenting of awards on balconies...it was just pathetic... i hope next year the show returns to form cause its a fun night of escapism.. and for those who call delpy a racist for making her comments, "get the out with that " thanks in advance.. I don't care what you all think. Julie Delpy is one of the great modern actresses and she's extremely intelligent and given far more to the art of film than most of those folks at the awards. So take your vile somewhere else, there are so many better places to spew your vile since that seems to be what many of you need to do. And hey, maybe she's right.

Actually, she's just as dire as they are, which is really saying something. Talk about a must-miss! Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!
