Again I just HAVE to believe that this list is in no sequential order. It's the only way it makes an inkling of sense and that's not saying much since it looks like they just put down any female that came to mind.

order or no order....Ashanti and the likes shouldn't be on ANY list lol

I know, I know. It's haunting me. If they did get to a hundred I fear we'd see 702, The Good Girls, Adina Howard, Shannon, Blackgirl, AllSaints, Blu Can-- I'll stop now.

I guess not. Not a nod for Martha Reeves and the Vandellas?

All-time lists are such BS popularity contests anyway. They're complied by people whose knowledge is allegedly wide but not very deep. Hence you have the Hives finishing ahead of the Jimi Hendriz Experience, John Mayer ahead of Robert Johnson. See the same list from the same mag a few years later, contemporary artists in the top-10 are nowhere in the list.

Reminds me of LIFE magazine's special History of Rock a few years back . .when they ranked Sting's fucking solo ouvre above LITTLE RICHARD.

That song "Soldier" is kinda stereotypical. It implies that black women aren't looking for balanced, intelligent black men.

nod whoever wrote that song should be shot.

I made a prediction and was right. I thought to myself if you were to shot who wrote the song, you woule need to reload and I was right...it took seven people to write that masterpiece!

Cater To You lyrics It's almost like women's fight for equal rights is pointless when you have this song

Verse 1 Beyonce]
Baby I See You Working Hard
I Want To Let You Know I'm Proud,
Let You Know That I Admire What You Do
The More If I Need To Reassure You, My Life Would Be Purposeless Without You (Yeah)
If I Want It (Got It)
When I Ask You (You Provide It)
You Inspire Me To Be Better
You Challenge Me For The Better
Sit Back And Let Me Pour Out My Love Letter

Let Me Help You
Take Off Your Shoes
Untie You Shoestrings
Take Off Your Cufflinks (Yeah)
What You Want To Eat Boo? (Yeah)
Let Me Feed You
Let Me Run Your Bathwater
Whatever You Desire, I'll Aspire
Sing You A Song
Turn My Game On
I'll Brush Your Hair
Help Put Your Do Rag On
Want A Foot Rub? (Yeah)
You Want A Manicure?
Baby I'm Yours I Want To Cater To You Boy

[Chorus]
Let Me Cater To You
Cause Baby This Is Your Day
Do Anything For My Man
Baby You Blow Me Away
I Got Your Slippers, Your Dinner, Your Dessert, And So Much More
Anything You Want Just Let Me Cater To You
Inspire Me From The Heart,
Can't Nothing Tear Us Apart
You're All That I Want In A Man;
I Put My Life In Your Hands
I Got Your Slippers, Your Dinner, Your Dessert, And So Much More
Anything You Want, I Want To Cater To You

[Verse 2 Kelly]
Baby I'm Happy You're Home,
Let Me Hold You In My Arms
I Just Want To Take The Stress Away From You
Making Sure That I'm Doing My Part (Oh)
Boy Is There Something You Need Me To Do (Oh)
If You Want It (I Got It)
Say The Word (I Will Try It)
I Know Whatever I'm Not Fulfilling (Oh)
No Other Woman Is Willing (Oh)
I'm Going To Fulfill Your Mind, Body, And Spirit

I Promise You (Promise You)
I'll Keep Myself Up (Oh)
Remain The Same Chick (Yeah)
You Fell In Love With (Yeah)
I'll Keep It Tight, I'll Keep My Figure Right
I'll Keep My Hair Fixed, Keep Rocking The Hottest Outfits
When You Come Home Late Tap Me On My Shoulder, I'll Roll Over
Baby I Heard You, I'm Here To Serve You (I'm Lovin It, I'm Lovin It)
If It's Love You Need, To Give It Is My Joy
All I Want To Do, Is Cater To You Boy

[Chorus]

[Bridge Michelle]
I Want To Give You My Breath, My Strength, My Will To Be Here
That's The Least I Can Do,
Let Me Cater To You
Through The Good (Good)
The Bad (Through The Bad)
The Ups And Downs (Ups And Downs)
I'll Still Be Here For You
Let Me Cater To You
Cause You're Beautiful (You're Beautiful)
I Love The Way You Are (You Are)
Fulfill Your Every Desire (Desire)
Your Wish Is My Command (Command)
I Want To Cater To My Man
Your Heart (Your Heart)
So Pure Your Love Shines Through(Shines Through)
The Darkness We'll Get Through (So Much)
So Much Of Me Is You (Is You)
I Want To Cater To My Man

[Chorus Out]

This verse in particular is the one that set the women's movement back 50 years...

I Promise You (Promise You)
I'll Keep Myself Up (Oh)
Remain The Same Chick (Yeah)
You Fell In Love With (Yeah)
I'll Keep It Tight, I'll Keep My Figure Right
I'll Keep My Hair Fixed, Keep Rocking The Hottest Outfits

No joke. I'm dead serious. If it's women that changed the face of R&B, well Shitney Houston did that.....she changed it for the worst.

This is supposed to be a list of women that changed R&B. What did Meshell change? I don't see how she has impacted R&B at all. That's the problem I have with a lot of the people on this list. Just because "they good" doesn't mean they have impacted the genre.

Madonna's ties to R&B are arguably as strong if not stronger than Billie's are. But many if not all of those on the list are directly or indirectly influenced by Lady Day.

Louis Armstrong's a MAN? His sultry voice had me fooled, then!

Seriously, the point was jazz singers have influenced pop music as a whole. I cited Satchmo as an example.
