Daft Punk's comeback

New album is Human After All.. strange title. Seems it's going to be a concept album about television. Forgive me, but isn't that completely old hat? Seems they'll be taking a more minimalist approach, but it should be a typically funky Daft Punk adventure. smile
The first single Robot Rock. When the killer riff kicks in you're thinking OMFG headbang, but then... that's the song. neutral Actually when I first heard this on the radio I thought "That's a funky track, but too repetitive -- if Daft Punk remixed that they'd make something really cool out of it." Then they announced that it's the new Daft Punk song. confused

I like Technologic, though it's so similar to Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. The new tracks I've heard don't give me hope, but maybe the whole album will be good. I hope so, because Discovery is the only dance album I've loved from start to finish in this decade.music

From what I can make out from the title "Human After All" is exactly that.

Remember when they released their last album they said that they died on the 9/9/99 at 9:09 am and woke up as robots. They done their whole junket for the 'Discovery" CD dressed as robots with led screen faces to boot.

I thought the whole concept was fantastic, true rock 'n' roll theatrics.

So getting back to this new title, it sounds like they are ditching the whole robot thing (sounds like Prince ditching the symbol). I think it's a shame because it was an original idea that was cool. This seems like they are coming down from all that, which could mean a "boring" release. I pray not!

It's a shame that they are ditching their funking sound. Don't get me wrong, I understand the whole robot concept. However, these group is getting too caught up in gimmics and lossing sight of the groove which is essential. Keep in mind, I grew up in the era of Rick James, Devo,Blondie,B-52's, Bowie, Kraftwerk, Prince and P-Funk. Their new sound ain't jammin so they need to slam it.

There is good electronica and then there is wack, cheese electronica. Guess which Daft Punk falls under? My, they really suck. Boring, wack ass beats. Their new cd was leaked on the internet a month or so ago, and I heard a few wack tracks. There is nothing funky about these songs, and I swear anyone with a $100 keyboard, a drum machine, and a vocoder voice distortion box could create this crap. I'm sure that whoever is a fan of their "music" has already downloaded the leaked album online already. It should be given away for free. Really, what a joke!

Though I listened to Human After All in-store and had problems with almost half of it, I did buy it. I didn't want to download it in pieces and miss parts of the whole. I was also hoping for interesting cd artwork. Ok, none of that either. I can grant them this one snafu, but the next album had better sound radically different. This one wasn't worth the 4 year wait.
