Candy Girl

So I was talking to these 5th grade girls the other day and they were playing some paddy-cake type of rhyming game with their hands while singing "Candy Girl" by NE. I asked them if they knew that song and they said they didn't even know it was a song. Then I mentioned New Edition and they told me "We like rap". And that was the end of the conversation. They mentioned B2K as well. I wonder if New Edition knows their song is used in this game.

Alot of rap song use samples from old songs and most of the kids that listen to it don't even know it. Thye think it's an original by the rap artist. I won't even begin to list the many songs that do, too many.

These kids had never even heard a sample of Candy Girl either. They just said they liked Rap Music because I mentioned a group they had never heard. And yes I'm a teacher.
