Haters travel in packs and they are offended or threatened by klhk, haters express intense hostility toward the subject of hate. Prince version was too r&b'ish for me. George Michael did a wonderful job they both did great on it... its just a depressing song...

...I like both versions, but I think GMs is probably more appealing for most tastes... [Edited 3/20/05 10:41am]

GM's voice is so much more passionate than Prince's. Bonnie Raitt's version was great too but maybe GM's passion made his version better. ..I'm gonna have to agree with you on that...of the three I think GMs has the most feeling behind the vocals...I really tried to like Bonnies version but never could...I think Princes version could be considered a bit over-produced for this "type" of song...this song is best delivered as simply as possible...

I actually don't like either cover all that much. I do like George Michael's voice a lot. His is, I think, one of the best pop voices in the past 20 years or so. But for me, his vocal style didn't work too well for this song. It was very smooth, but there was no ache or longing to it. That is why I love Bonnie Raitt's version; you can feel the longing in her voice. Prince sang it well enough, but I wasn't really sold on the production of the song. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of Philly soul (The Delfonics are one of my favorites), but it didn't feel right with this song.

Like Rip, I don't like Prince or George Michael's version either.
Probably my favorite outside of Bonnie Raitt's would be the instrumental version by Neal Schon... ...Voice For another male vocal alternative, check out Will Downing's... ...Moods tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I prefer Bonnie Raitt's version. I didn't know that George Michael did a version. As far as Prince's version, it's OK but it pisses me off for Prince to do covers unless he does them in concert. He is supposed to be more original than doing covers on an album.
Bonnie Raitt's version is my mother's all time favorite song. She is a big "As The World Turns" fan and this song was being played to death on the show at that time. Isn't it funny how our parents will love a song for crazy reasons? Anyway, the cassette made a great Christmas gift for her that year. She is scared of CDs or new technology. Andy is a four letter word.

I really like Prince's cover's on the Emancipation album. Oh lord. Me and yo mama can definitely talk about that one. Film at 11. Anyhoo, I pick George Michael's version. The idea that he's singing to another man just gets my fashionably gay undies moist.

George did the better version. Prince absolutely butchered it.
but the original is still the best. "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

Bonnie Raitt I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back. I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there. I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish. And I am
