Yeah Americna Breed was the earlier form of Rufus. If I'm not mistaken, Paulette McWilliams was the original Rufus diva b4 Chaka got recruited.

Yup! according to Chaka, Paulette was leaving, and sorta chose her as the successor...
Btw, I don't know how many of y'all picked up Brigette McWilliams' Chaka-like album, "Too Much Woman"(Virgin, 1997), but Paulette is her mother! The album featured Rufus members Tony Maiden and Bobby Watson(with strings by Clare Fischer!), as well as legendary players like Billy Preston and Gap Band guitarist Jimmy Macon...it was produced by Steve 'the Scotsman' Harvey, who brought similar live, 70's band production to Donnie's album, The Colored Section, as well as singer/keyboardist Frank McComb's album, "Truth vol.1"...)

Heard many great stuff about it nod I might get it.

If I'm not mistaken, she, Keisha Jackson(Millie's daughter), Milini(Chaka's daughter) and Lalah(Donny's daughter) toured 2ghether last year in a BIG engagment "Daughter Of Soul Tour" and it was well recieved.

That's some good trivia.

Equivalent to knowing about Donald Fagen and Walter Becker's (Steely Dan) stint with Jay & the Americans.
(using the names of Tristan Fabriani and Gustav Mahler respectively) disbelief

I know this has nothing to do with the tread, but what happened to
Donnie . I really liked his first album The Colored Section
