When you listen to Victor play, that picture seems pretty accurate.

Vic's a cool brother. I've met him on several occasions. He's the quintessential bass player as far as attitude goes. Laid back, very talented but mellow about it and very approachable. Every time I see him play, he's doing something different from the last time I saw him play. He's an evolutionary bassist. That's something ALL musicians should aspire to be.

Hes an amazing cellist too. He could be in a symphony. No Lie...

Grab that Wooten bio book its outstanding information.
After you read this you will be all caught up in Wooten History of the Past Present and Future.

When you read that book you gonna go "No Shit"

It drops some scalding truth about Kashif erasing Wooten Brothers parts on records. Talks about Vic touring with Stephanie Mills. His time at Busche Gardens and his rapfest concert moments breakdancing as a b-boy.

But some of the illest chapters arent even in music. His Martial Arts section will knock you out. The Brotha can chop a mf if he wants too.

He is a master of "Wing Chun"
(not Wang Chung aha)

One of the most demanding martial arts there is.
Vic dont play and then it talks about his music that he records that doesnt see the light of day. Reminds me of somebody...

Then it talks about being a survival tracker. Its a dope book. The author deserves Major Props.

Sheeeeet! WATCHING him play is pretty much like that too! His hands seem to be in a hundred different spots at once!

Recently caught a segment of a Flecktones concert on the tube where Victor and Roy (Future Man) were given a solo section. Machine gun bass notes were constantly flying while the bass is periodically in mid-air, even circling his head. Truly something to behold. Definitely one of, if not the premiere bassist of the day.

Talent runs deep in that family when you add Joseph (organ), Rudy (sax) and Regi (guitar).

"Circus" is fitting. His shows are very much like the circus. Good thing is that he knows this. They pull out all the tricks and they play a lot of stuff...but like the circus it's a lot of fun.
Caught him last at Irving Plaza. Good show. Will probably get a bag of peanuts check them out in April.

One of the reasons I think Vic is brilliant is because he extends the bass vocabulary in Live overdub looping. Which he takes to a new level.
I have this live show where he invites this 13 year old kid to jam on a Return to Forever tune live on stage.

Now who would do that other than Vic? He just met him that day and the kid impressed him that much. I wonder what Vic is gonna do this time.

Its like all samples of the record arent even here.
And its only 4 weeks away. His label is keeping a good job from it being leaked.
