Alana's back with Surrender Dorothy, the long-awaited follow up to her 2001 album Fortune Cookies.

The album finds Alana in the same creative space we loved in first two LPs, acoustic and melodic.

A majority of the tracks feel like they were recorded in the same vein. There's little variation between the soundscapes. It's a continuous acoustic adventure. Which rears a little to close to Norah Jones' snoozy debut territory. Other than that, it's a smooth record that goes down nicely. You can play it on repeat and not once feel bored.

The standouts on the album are:

Right There (instantly beautiful, wistful guitar, very Western)

The Reaper (morb, but surprisingly hopeful. Reminds me a bit of "Murder" in its morbidity)

Create (great message, nice soundscape)

Desert Rose (reminds me a lot of "Weight of the World")

Nice Time (Bonus Track) (remake of the same track by Bob Marley and The Wailers)

She won't disappoint long time fans with this one. If you've hung in there since "Blame It On Me" consider yourself treated.
