Live drums would breathe so much (more) life into his stuff. I agree. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Well, I am digging Stevie's new single and not just b/c it has P on it. I am glad to see that Steve is going back to his roots and returning back to his roots with funk and started back wearing his funk pass once again. All I can say as funkateer is keep funkin Stevie. [Edited 3/9/05 12:04pm]

Steve used to jam with Funkadelic in the 70's and sit in on jam session. This is a little know fact. Listen to the documentary on the BBC 2 Radio.

Anyway, Not Just Knee Deep was channeling Stevie! Please, listen to "Maybe Your Baby" from 72 and tell me "Flashlight'', and any other moog driven bassline from P-Funkisn't biting off of that. BG, there is definitely a spiritual musical connection we have going here. I am glad you mentioned that song by Stevie. That used to be one my favorite jams off of his Talking Book Album back in the day.

Not really. Im talking rhythm wise not moog bass wise. Thats a given why more people started playing Moogs. And I dont think its biting off it.

Oh man, I would love to get a hold of some mid 70s stevie concert footage , I hear that he would walk around the stage playing practically every instrument at one point or another, that the live renditions of a lot his songs were even more kickass than the studio versions (particularly contusion and don't you worry bout a thin), and that he made a lot of his earlier hits more hard rockin (I was made to love her, uptight). But I CAN'T FIND IT THESE CONCERTS ANYWHERE

Thanks again, BlueNote. After listening to it, I'm not instantly impressed. Perhaps it will take some more listens, but I know Stevie is way better than this. The melody is too redundant and there are no significant chord progressions like he's known for creating. I dunno, sounds pretty to me (and ya'll know how this hurts me to say that ).
