Can Billy Idol have a big come back? So Many artists from the 80's have made come backs and have done quite well. Prince, Duran Duran, George Michael, etc...Is there a place for Billy? I hope so because he rocks! It's time for some good rock music to take over the charts. Green Day are doing quite well right now and maybe they were influenced by Billy idol, since he was the original pop punker. They should cover one of his song!
So what do you all think? Can he do it again? [Edited 3/8/05 11:15am]

He just might make it due to the fact that most people are sick to death of hip/hop. We're in dire need of some good old rock music. I won't be buying his new cd, but I'm sure I can get a burned copy from friends if I want it.

I think this could be great timing for a come back and it's long over due. I heard his single "scream" and it's really good. Classic Billy Idol! so im looking forward to getting the CD. I hope to see him on tour too.

really? (glances at Billboard top 10) ok, I guess.. Anyway, as much as I love Billy Idol, I think his 15 minutes are up. [Edited 3/8/05 12:20pm]

Well, none of the artists you mentioned had a "huge" comeback. Their albums all sold decently well, and they got some exposure on TV and the radio, but none of them had a year that lived up to their respective haydays. Billy might sell more copies of his album that usual (although he hasn't had a CD of new material out since '93, so I'm not sure what the criteria for judging his sales is), but I can't see him going more than gold (platninum would be a stretch). I'll bet the album is discounted and advertised the first week. It'll probably go top 20 and sink down the charts pretty quickly. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

He has become an MTV 80s puppet @ la Duran Duran and drugs didn't help, I guess.

Hey, why not. Billy was one of the true Punks, and it's time he bring something new to the game. OI!!!!! NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Well, like Duran Duran and other veteran acts, his opening sales might be good, then the CD will quickly fall.
Unfortunately older artists don't get played much on the radio these days. Unless you're U2.
