Funkafied "Hair" If you have never heard this song called "Hair" by GCS[Graham Central Station] run out and buy and then listen to it then return to this forum, we'll wait. Is this not the funkiest song ever?!!! Who said Larry didn't "bring it"? Larry bringing it raw can be heard on "People" from the same debut album.

One o' my favorite Graham tunes, right next to 'The Jam' " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

Man. "Hair" is essential Larry. U won't get a lot of support on here for Larry cuz they blame him for P's state of mind. A lot of folks aren't truly hip to Graham Central Station anyway. My fave song by Graham though is a song called "Today" off of "Release Yourself" album. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I really need to go back and research Larry's catalogue. I'm totally in the dark when it comes to Graham Central Station.

It's well worth it. Be warned that some of GCS is hella low in bottom. You already have Larry's super baritone and then double that with his ulta- low bottom out ass bass guitar. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

It's funny that when I 1st came on this board (during the no-posting period), I kept seeing all the Larry hateration and couldn't figure out what was happening. Weren't they hip to this guy's contribution to modern bass playing?
And then to find out what all the brouhaha was about. Anyway... Release Yourself Tis Your Kind Of Music The Jam It's Alright Earthquake Last Train ...among others, says it all. Let's face it, the guy watched a true pop music icon (Sly) flame out right before his eyes. Maybe he was just trying to save another one from the same fate. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Mmmm, hip me to the vocals issue. Is it that you just don't dig his voice or is something else going on? Just curious. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Brains took that song over the edge and dropped it! Again many orgers on this site have very little experience listening to Larry Graham, their opinion is based mostly on Larry's influence on Prince's religious choice, and this has clogged their ears to true funk. How sad!
