Finally socially conscious Hip Hop from

Cornel West

Presented in the impelling voices of Cornel West, Tavis Smiley, Michael Eric Dyson, Dr. Marcia Dyson, Derek "DOA" Allen, Killa Mike and others, the entertainment, education and thought-provoking impact of " Street Knowledge " is infectious, contagious and addictive.

The entire body of this work crosses demographic lines indiscriminately. It reaches youth without alienating the mature among us. It teaches other cultures without a belaboring of issues for those with personal knowledge.
" Street Knowledge " makes one dance, sing, laugh, think, meditate and look at new ways of taking responsibility. This 2-CD set is the new face of educational entertainment. At the risk of sounding like a breakfast cereal, it feels so good you hardly notice that it's good for you.

Anyone heard his last album

or his review on popular music...

To talk about black postmodernist practices is to go back
be-bop music and see how it relates to literary
expressions like Reed's and Charles Wright's. It is to go
back, in other words, to the genius of Charlie Parker, John
Coltrane and Miles Davis. . . Certainly, it emerges together
with Abstract Expressionism, which is distinctly an
American art form. . . Michael Jackson and Prince are
cross-over in another sense: their music is less rooted in
black musical traditions and much more open to white
rock and so forth.

at least it's better than toure

j/k

I'm going to have to take a listen to this. Of course it won't be heard by most people into hip-hop but I hope it's good.

I didn't hear his last album, though sad Anyone taken a listen?

I live not too far from Harvard, and I see Professor West around. He's an amazingly cool guy. Every time I see him he gets shouted out by random people on the street, and he's so gracious about it. If you say hello to him or pay him respect, he'll give you a smile and a wave as if you were good friends.

I'd love to pick up this album. Thanks for the heads up, lilgish.
