I also thing that her vocals on We Belong Together are much better than anything she's done in years. The song is nothing that special but it's FINALLY Mariah Carey singing. I also heared the Morales Remix of ILT and I must say I dig it more than the ogiginal. She seems to use her voice more effectively on his tracks, thus makin it more a more interesting listen. Her vocals are killer on the david morales remix

I don't think Mariah takes herself that seriously. She knows the business is about illusion. Anyhoo... I've gotta hear this Morales mix. One of the things I love about MC is how generous she is with the remixes and doesn't mind redoing the vocals. I hate remixes that are nothing but variations of the same ole' vocal track and a whole bunch of noise around it. Then they throw in an acapella or an instrumental, call it a Maxi-single and want people to buy it. MC works her remixes for real. Read somewhere the this is her way of letting the public know that this album is really her. The person that her closest friends know. Yes the character looks like a CGI character. Perhaps they have plans for marketing it. Games, movies...etc. The way the music industry is shaping up, you have to look at all the options. The image is not very anatomically correct...looks like they combined a cgi image with a photo. Sometimes this happens when the retouch guy gets carried away and isn't as much a painter as he is a "retouch" person. Anyway, I like the image. I like that they left the hair it's the only thing that gives the illusion that it's real and not a toy. Not crazy about the work on the face. Looks more like Shakira than Mariah. You would think they'd cover their tracks better than that. Or perhaps it's all part of the planned "controversy" that will surround the cover. It's free press...and it's a way to get people talking about the album. It would stink if this is the case and that Mariah is in the dark about it. It's nice but it's not Mariah...those aren't even her split ends. Check the link that Voices Carry posted. Perhaps they were smart enough to change the feet and hands. Actually, it looks as if they did. Funny part is that they didn't even bother to change the head...they just added the face and made a half hearted attempt to reshape. This is done all the time. A finished image is very often comprised of the best of many pics. But unless it's part of a higher plan...it was a bad call for her people to do this. Maybe they'll do the press conference where the distraught Mariah will protest her disgust, fire someone and announce the release of the new cover along with the now enhanced CD. It may be the new Milli Vanilli thing or the Oprah Ann-Margret thing...but in the end, Mariah will come out on top 'cause she has the pipes. Hmmm... the cover was shot by David LaChapelle who often does surreal and stylized work and doesn't shy away from computer altering. I'm guessing he used the L'Oreal ad as his foundation which happens alot with art direction and advertising. And perhaps he even shot the original L'Oreal photo since Klinko & Indrani are not just photographers but handle retouching of other photographers works too. Either way, I'm betting this was some sort of 'collaborative' effort between the pieces and/or the artists. It's so apparent it can't be a snafu or oversight. David and/or the art director(s) came up with the concept, showed it to Mariah and she probably just said, "Yeah, I like it" and voila. Bayawnsay. It probably is as you suggest. However, studios of this caliber know not to release images so uniquely similar especially for projects/clients this large. The commercial guys (as opposed to the Fine artists) joke that "you know a piece is truly finished...when the budget runs out". Perhaps the Mariah budget ran out before the more intricate retouch was done, so they let the intern finish up by combining images...and then made certain to put the original image on their (Klinko) Splash page. Really have no idea how this happened but I don't think that this is the last we hear of it all. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

If not, then it's a total fake. They may shoot some alternate photos AFTER the fact to try and cover that up, though.

...what is sad to me, is that one point in her career, we would have been discussing the actual musical content of her new album(s)...thanks to her attempts to be THE hip-hop diva and to "woo-woo" and "ah-ah" her way through songs as of late, musical content is no longer an issue...it really sucks that she wastes so much talent on being a run of the mill T&A show...truly a waste...

She looks good. But in Mariah's defense, she DOES predate Beyoncé by a decade, so, in essence, Beyoncé looks more like HER.

Actually it's sad that artists have to reinvent themselves so often. It's the way they are marketed: in Mega Doses. They probably get tired of themselves. Seems that new names are the way to give the illusion of something different. P Diddy and J-Lo I see. Mariah doesn't have to do this. She simply needs to focus on doing something different.
