My only issues with it are the umpteenth use of the "Fiddler" song, the rehashed sample of "Between the Sheets" (though Luxurious pulls it off well) and Hollaback Girl. Hate that song. I also think the remix of What You Waiting For trumps the original track. Not the best album I've ever heard, certainly not the worst.
I LOVE that remix! Which remix is that? I've seen three circulating on vinyl: Armand Van Helden, Felix da Housecat and Jacques Lu Cont. Jacques Lu Cont did a really good job. I haven't heard a remix by him yet that I didn't like. He deserved that best remix grammy this year.

Deep down, that's gotta do some psychological damage. RipHer2Shreds said: And if you woulda seen her open for Cher, you would have seen just that! She opened the set wtih Money Changes Everything. No shit! That would've been great! Does she still rock it, or does she do it acoustically? I saw her on TV a few years ago playing some sort of harp or something, she was doing a set of her old stuff and it was all really downtempo. I was afraid that maybe that's how she performs now. I saw some footage of Cher's concert and she was rocking it - going into the audience, up and down the aisles, etc. at the same time. She's very interactive at her concerts.

I still don't think anyone's surpassed her version. Celine Dion's kills Cyndi's version. I love I Drove All Night. Her voice is so strong on it, particularly toward the end when she hits that high note. I have fond memories of that song, because around the time that song was popular, I got to talk to her on the phone for a quick minute or two. It made me happy. Cool story. For me, her vocals have just the right sexy edge required for that song. I mean you can't sing it like Roy Orbison or Celine - all innocent-like with no inflection or lust. The arrangement was sultry, too, which was appropriate. It was a big hit.

Did you talk to Cyndi on the phone or Celine Dion? The Celine comment was a joke, and I talked with Cyndi on the phone. It wasn't a huge deal. She was in town promoting the album and stopped in to one of the local radio stations (WLOL, I believe). They asked for people to call in with questions, but I didn't realize I would be asking her directly. I was 15 and dumb and asked her why she changed her look and went for the platinum blonde. She was very sweet, talked for a bit, said she just got bored with her hair and told me to buy the album since I loved the song so much. Then she thanked me with that cute accent. As a star-struck 15-year-old, it made my day and week and month and year.

But to be honest, I think Cher has a terrible voice. Very strained and no real range. I have always loved her but I've never been a fan of her singing. I wouldn't walk across the street to see her in concert with all those crazy wigs and terrible songs. I'd much rather see her acting whether it be drama or comedy. She's really quite funny and we all know she can act her ass off when she gets a good script. She's someone I've admired for many years, but I have to say I'm glad she's retiring from singing. Hopefully she'll make some great movies again.

What's wrong with people nowadays. About 5 or 6 years back, I had a friend that was in love with this cover of Time After Time or True Colors (I can't remember now), and she had no idea that it was a remake. I couldn't believe it. It's like when Edge of Seventeen or Ventura Highway come on the radio and people ask who covered a Beyonce or Janet Jackson song. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

i'm still loving it! admittedly, i don't listen to it as much as i did for the first few months but that's mostly because of u2 (and more recently, tori amos). i always play it at the gym and usually on my way to work; it gets me happy and hyper. i never considered it a brilliant commentary type record so i don't have a problem with the fluff. i'm a fan of madonna's, a fan of janet's, a fan of michael's...yes, these artists have made some serious records and occasionally include a seious song on a standard pop record but barring those select few tracks/albums, they make fluff. if i wanted dylan or mitchell-esque lyrics i'd put on blue or blood on the tracks.
everybody has their thing though. my ipod is on random all the time and it jumps from tori amos to the spice girls to eno and back again. gwen's record has a place and when i'm needing that mood i love to play it.

It was great at first because I love the new wave sound and the 80's, and this is a record that revels in retro. But now I'm completely bored by it. It doesn't have the staying power of the best new wave tracks. This is probably becuase it feels like such a pastiche - as if the producers got together with Gwen, she told them she wanted to make a new wave record, and they gave her a selection of ten 80's albums. "Select one song from each album, and we'll make a sound-alike. Oh, you like 'Time After Time'? Well, we'll call it 'The Real Thing'." And so on. It's meant to be a party record but for some reason it really isn't FUN. I think she sounds a tad bored on it - it lacks the spontaneity of the earlier No Doubt records. It isn't loose - everything's calculated. I'd take Beauty And The Beat over this any day. And that fucking NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA hook on Rich Girl is truly grating. After I bought "Kish Kash" by Basement Jaxx I realized what the real party record of the year was. If Gwen had put out KK she would've been saying something. I am a little bored with LAMB. i've heard basement jaxx cd is good but what puts me off from buying it is that there are featured artists. i don't really like that. when i hear an album i like one vocalist on the entire album as a general rule. what is the album like? as for gwen's, i think it's good but i could see it getting played out quickly too.

Oh. Well Bassment Jaxx has to have featured artist because they're producers. They're just keeping to the traditions of House. That's the style of the album. This one is very Princey in spots.

Anyways, I think everyone got their fill of L.I.S.P because we all bought it soon as it dropped.. this is as long as an "initial" stage of love for an album should last anyway. The real trick is to see if you come back to it later this summer.
