this song appeals to single struggling young mothers of all races and creeds, but especially young african-american females. it's an uplifting song in kind of street smart way and will probably be a short-term anthem. reminds me of tupac's "keep ya head up"...my 26 year old single sister who has 3 kids in catholic school, works at a hospital and goes to college part time was brought to tears when i played it for her a few months back. if you've never walked a mile in somebody else's shoes, you never know how a song can really speak to them.

B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas

It's about time we had our own song
Don't know what took so long
Cuz now-a-days it like a badge of honer
To be a baby mama
I see ya payin' ya bills
I see ya workin' ya job
I see ya goin' to school
And girl I know it's hard
And even though ya fed up
With makin' beds up
Girl, keep ya head up
All my

[Chorus]
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas

I see you get that support check in the mail
Ya open it and your like "What the Hell"
You say "This ain't even half of daycare"
Sayin to yourself "This shit ain't fair"
And all my girls who don't get no help
Who gotta do everything by yourself
Remeber: What don't kill you can only make you stronger
My baby mama...

[Chorus]
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas

Cuz we the backbone (of the hood)
I always knew that (that we could)
We can go anywhere, we can do anything
I know we can make it if we dream
And I think it should be a holiday
For single mothers tryin' to make a way
But until then
Here is your song
Show love to my....

[Chorus]
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas
you look better on your facebook page than you do in person hmph!

this is a really unfortunate song. what would be truly uplifting is if she'd put out a song that said "don't get knocked up. this shit is hard work."

I appreciate the sentiment but she could have said single mothers instead of Baby mommas! I hate that terminology! The hook is just horrible but the rest of the lyrics are great!

I agree.I love Fantasia and I have much love for single parents, but that whole baby's mama, baby's daddy mentality is so "Jerry Springer-ish".

S.I.N.G.L.E.M.O.T.H.E.R would be a bit cumbersome to chant as a chorus, no? biggrin

So your saying then for example TOGETHER AGAIN by Janet that celebrates people who have passed away from AIDS should have been a song about how those people should have taken more care when having sex also? not quite getting what ur saying

frankly, janet singing a song about taking more care while having sex would be a refreshing change of pace, and at least would still be about sex, which seems to be her favorite subject.

but no, that isn't what i'm saying. if you don't get what i'm saying, when i say it in plain english, then you'll never get it. the mentality of this song, and the fact that it exists, is a large problem.

I really don't see the problem? The song doesn't advocate getting pregnant, more so facing the adversity of being a single parent big difference. Not all songs should be a community service advertisement

And therein lies the problem. Some of them go out of their way to have kids knowing full well that the father will probably not be around to help them take care of the child, (or will not have any interest in taking care of the child) and that they can't care for it alone. The real issue is don't bitch about a situation which you had control of after the fact.

clapping They ought to write a song about not getting pregnant, one about how the chick used birth control, how a chick said no to a guy, any damn thing else. If they want to really get real, write a damn song about all the chicks who use their kids as a tool because the child's father doesn't want to have anything to do with them.

yeah this song is on point! let's give it up for the erosion of the black family! hrmph

y can't we sing songs celebrating the young sistahs (young meaning teens) who can keep their legs closed and want to strive for something better, like, um, gee i dunno, an education...most "babymommas" don't make it on american idol rolleyes

"Yeah you could DO it without a man, but that don't mean its to be done. Shit you could drive a car with your feet if ya want to, that don't make if a good fuckin' idea!"
