Big Will Has "Sumthin'" For Slim Shady

When Will Smith releases his fourth album, Lost and Found, on March 29, the rapper/actor is said to have a track titled "Mr. Nice Guy." The song is about how some people mistake him for being soft. And according to a statement by his spokesperson to MTV, Smith has "sumthin' for Eminem" in the song. It'll be interesting as both artists are now labelmates within the Interscope Records family. Smith says the CD is a "departure" from his previous albums. "Switch" is the project's lead single which Smith describes as "a snapshot of my life. It's the most in-depth, revealing writing that I've done in my career."

What songs will he jack this time? He's already been through the Clash, Stevie Wonder, Patrice Rushen, et al. Write your own damn songs!

We'll see. I'm not being sarcastic when I say I can definitely see Will Smith doing a remake of "Hanging Tough".

This is the cat, lord love him (and I do too), who actually said he's the best lyricist around. He had to have been kidding with that Slim Shady remark. This is a cat who outshone Jay-Z once, on Jay-Z's own album. Will thinks he can take on Em? Well, a lot of brothers thought they could lock down Larry Bird too.

Dude, u have the No. 1 movie in America. You've sold a billion dollars in movie tix worldwide. You've been nominated for an Oscar. Stick to what you do very well. You don't see Russell Crowe trying to enter a battle of the bands with the White Stripes.

Please someone tell me Will was kidding.

I saw the video for Switch last week on BET, I couldn't beleive he had a new cd. I thought he just did a song for the Hitch soundtrack.

Imagine my surprised when I saw the album title pop up. Song was al'ight. But I'm gonna have to leave that cd on the shelf in the store.

The new music might sound "gangsta". But the lyrics will be still be clean.

Dr. Dre & Company will get a good laugh!

I'm usually indifferent to whatever Will SMith releases but I actually broke down and rented "I Robot"....very good! It's great to see him in an adult action/sci-fi flick that isn't so trying to be funny or gimicky. It really worked.

The attempt to "come hard" just to show your fans and critics you're not soft rarely works. Remember when Prince started using the "N word"and profanity in his music in the 90's?It seemed like he was trying to justify his relevence to the gangsta rap generation. He didn't need to do that. He's Prince!

Big Willie has nothing to prove to anybody except himself. And hopefully that "sumthin for Slim Shady" remark was taken out of context. Some people might hate me for saying this but Mr.Smith can't beat Mr.Mathers on the mike. He's an exceptional lyricist.Eminem is just sitting back, pen and paper in hand, waiting for Will Smith to say something derogatory about him. Will just needs to do his thing, love his family, and make that money!

I heard Will Smith's "Switch" the other day. I like it. It is not hard but it is a little raw for Will Smith. Great song though.
We should encourage our kids to listen to Will Smith and LL Cool J then we don't have to worry about them picking up words like Bitches, Hoes, Pimps and any other profanities that these so called "hard" artists use to "keep it real".

Yeah, I agree it isn't that hard and I thought it was a little raw for him myself, until I remembered how long he's been doing this. When he first came out, he was somewhat raw then too that was before he'd really made it. I also realized wether you like his music or not you've got to give him credit for his longevity. How many other rappers from the eighties are still around? Theres Dr. Dre, LL Cool J and Will Smith (off hand I can't recall any more) thats gotta count for something. cool

I love sci-fi and I, Robot - the novel - is one of the best. I knew going into the movie that it had absolutely nothing to do with the book other than a premise, so I put that out of my head. It's not a bad movie.

Re: The Fresh Prince's new album - I've not heard it, but I actually don't mind Switch. Just sounds like a jump rope song. smile
