ANI DEFRANCO I saw Ani last night at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco. She was awesome!!! One of the Indigo Girls joined her on stage with some other guy that opened up for her. What a show. POT everywhere. I must be getting old.....

DiFranco.
Anyways, I met her here in NYC, and told her she was a brilliant songwriter. She really is. [Edited 2/19/05 15:28pm] NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

She seems too comfortable with her style or something, which might be nice for her state of mind, but makes for kind of boring songs. Just listened to the new one, and while the songs individually are certainly admirable, as a whole, I don't think I'll ever play it again. [Edited 2/19/05 16:02pm]

It's DiFranco...don't want to get her mixed up with the DeFranco family of the '70s.
Ani has always been the real deal. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Ani has always been the real deal. You are the only person that has ever mentioned the Defranco family to me. Oh my God. Tony was my first crush. I was 5, he was 10, it would've never worked out. I always ask people if they know who the Defranco family was, no one does. So I guess there's two of us. MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! She's one of those artists that I love 4 a time, 4get about 4 a while and then she'll do something that will remind of me of all the reasons I liked her 2 begin with. I hadn't listened 2 her regualrly since "Little Plastic Castle", but I saw her last weekend in San Diego and she was brilliant. I didn't recognize a good %90 of the songs she played, but that kept it very fresh 4 me. Ani is 1 of the few people in concert who gets my absolute undivided attention as a songwriter. As 4 Andrew Bird, her opening act, well... Listen to me on The House of Pop Culture podcast on itunes http://itunes.apple.com/u...d438631917
