Michael Bland ROCKS! OK, I was probably the ONLY brother in the house, but at the Paul Westerberg (of The Replacements) show in Seattle tonight, Michael Bland ROCKED THE SHIT OUT OF SEATTLE! He is currently touring with Westerberg on his west coast tour. I cannot believe the power and accuracy of his drumming. What a pro -- he made the whole band play up to his standard. I really only watched him and Paul the whole night. Definitely worth a look if you see him coming to your town.
He is my favorite drummer that Prince ever used, bar NONE (including Bobby Z. and Sheila E.) [Edited 2/19/05 15:21pm]

Yeah, no doubt that Fink (and Sheila) had their moments in helping to make Prince what he is. And Bland only played on two albums, but the power of his live performances is AMAZING. He plays with power, but finesse. He's sound is so heavy yet technically adept.

Yeah, but you really can't even compare Fink and Bland when it comes to playing drums. Opinions are opinions, I know. It's a jungle out there.

But,isn't that Prince on "Head"? I don't think Fink played on the album at that point, just when he went live, right?

Prince snobs. Instead of correcting you by telling you that Fink played keyboards and Bobby Z. played drums, they choose to make fun of you. This is the way of the fanatic. Around here, they laugh if you don't know wht Prince ate for breakfast yesterday. Don't sweat it.

You are correct, it is the way of the fanatical snobs to wade about in their own juices to feel superior. Still, I should have taken my time to be accurate in my initial post. Kudos to your class in a stable lacking the same. Thanks for my "plus" sign today. Too bad that the initial point of Bland's talent got lost in the pathetic shuffle. Onward & upward. i don't see how you discern people innocently laughing at a mere mistake you've made as actin snobbish towards you. the best you could've done is laugh along and shook it off, as opposed to gettin angry about it.

The snobbish thing to have done was to say something like, "Dr. Fink never played drums. Everybody knows that. You don't belong here, if you don't know that. Even one viewing of "Purple Rain" should show you that the guy dressed as surgeon is behind a keyboard" or something. It was good natured fun; no disrespect intended. Just goofing around. BTW, yes, Michael Bland may be Prince's best drummer. But then again, Sheila E and John Blackwell may also be. It's a jungle out there.

What u talkin about he played on many Prince albums: Diamonds and Pearls the "symbol album" Come Gold the first two NPG albums Chaos and disorder he is even on a few songs on emancipation. Yoda Luminous beings are we...not this crude matter.
Is this 2morrow or just the END of time? The Funk will always b with u "I've got a face, not just my race, Bang Bang I've got you babe!"

Lets get back on topic, Bland actually is Prince's best drummer, Sheila comes in a close second. Luminous beings are we...not this crude matter.
