Funtown USA - Rafael Cameron
Who's Stickin' It - Sunrize

I remember both of those. "I'm Real" is from the album that Full Force produced for James Brown and "Victim Of Love" is from Roger's "Bridging The Gap" album.

yeah, u probelry know I'm mainly a newjack person and these are around that time period, but I at least got most of Rogers stuff.....

All newjack is funky to me but I'll leave nejack out. Early newjack like "groove me" by Guy is I guess more old school and less formulaic newjack so I think that would fit. I think that track is forgotton as track is awesome.

Don't know a lot of these songs...going down the list thinking I'm gonna get hip to new funk and I think I figured it out.

It's not that this funk is forgotton. I think that somayou have been lookin' under "Funk" when the songs are actually classified as "soft funk", "extra soft funk" and "non-funk funk".

It smells a whole lot like Coney Island cotton candy in here and I always thought that If it doesn't stank then it's not funk.

Really, how do you guys define funk? I need to feel it but maybe I'm going about it all wrong. Maybe there's a book-o-funk that I haven't read.

Perhaps we all have our own personal funkometers and it's all subjective.

This isn't like a slam or anything...haven't listened to all the songs...most are nice...some are funky...many just aren't. Not to me.

Sexual Harrassment was a mysterious band that came out of nowhere in 1983 with the club hit "I Need a Freak".It received alot of airplay here on the West Coast.I have their album, and it's very Prince-influenced."If I Gave You A Party" is the highlight, imo.Man,I loved that song!!

"if I gave you a party, would you come?
if I kissed you on the hand, would you come?"

Very nasty and sleazy, like 'Dirty Mind' era Prince lol

The album also included "K-I-S-S-I-N-G" and "Exercise Your Ass Off".The latter song is an X-rated take on the whole fitness craze that was so popular back then, lol. These guys were huge fans of the Minneapolis Sound. In fact, they came back in 1985 with a single called "We Want Prince".
