Nona Hendryx!

I've had her cd for a couple of years now and I couldn't quite get into it for quite a while but man, she rocks! She's very diverse. She's done rock, funk and r&b. She was in Labelle and of course Patty was the break out star of the group but Nona's music appeals to me much more than Patty's. Nona seems to take more chances with her music and look. I heard her first album released in the 70's was very experimental, and rock. I would love to have a copy of this but i'm sure it's very hard to come by.

Anyone else into Nona?

I have Transformation too! Some of the songs really rock! I would put her in the same categorie as Grace Jones, though I know they are different. Any idea what's going on with her now? It would be great to hear some new music from her!

Both Nona and Patti are the bomb (in thier own ways). If you want to get deep into Nona get the three Labelle albums with her writing 90% of the material. Nightbirds, Phoenix (only on vinyl), and Chameleons. I can hook you up on Phoenix PM me...

by the way, patti is cool too but does too many vocal gymnastics for my taste. i just prefer Nona. i always tend to go more for the underdog too. she never really gets her props. sad

Do you remember the video? I saw it maybe a month ago. There's a blue screen effect where she's on her belly, supposedly "swimming" with fishes. biggrin

That song was written produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

to be honest i never knew about the bluebelles. i think that may have been before my time. i only found out she was in labelle just a couple of years ago. she does seem like she was pretty out there though. i wonder if she still speaks to patti, or did they have a falling out?

I saw their "reunion" in 2002 at the WKTU Holiday concert.
They did just the one song "Lady Marmalade". It was hot!

Chaka Khan and Stephanie Mills performed also.

Wrong site...I should've said Org Note me. Also, you can check out my LaBelle site http://www.geocities.com/...elogo.html To give you some background. Phoenix will blow your mind.

Peace, Serveitupfrankie*

(And no, she didn't write "Lady Marmalade.") Bob Crewe and another gentleman wrote that.

No,she didn't write "Lady Marmalade".That song was written by Kenny Nolan, who scored a few solo hits of his own in the late 70s.

As a funk/rock guitarist I've always followed Nona's career much more than Patti's. Currently Nora has a website www.nonahendryx.com. She has been working lately with "The Daughters of Soul" project which includes my baby Sandra St. Victor. They have been doing gigs over in Amsterdam Netherlands which is where Sandra lives now. I hear it's nice over there. I've got to get there to see some of their gigs.

I mean I heard that the public is much more open minded toward the music scene. Not like the corporate music scene here in the states.
