Who loves Irene Cara?!

I must say without a doubt, Irene Cara was my first crush!

I saw her on VH-1 and Entertainment Tonight a couple of years ago, she still looks great! She has put a new gurl group together coming out soon called 'Caramel', Isn't that cute and catchy? "Cara"-mel, get it?!

Most of them are from DC too! Whoohoo! You go girl! U know where to get that talent and that soul from, Chocolate City!

Have you ever seen Irene Cara in the 1976 movie 'Sparkle'? She was great in that film! She's a great vocalist who recorded two of the biggest movie theme songs of the 80s,"Fame" (which she also starred in) and "Flashdance...What A Feeling".In 1983,she released her own album with the hits "Why Me?" and "Breakdance",which I love:)

Speaking of 'Flashdance'.....did you guys know that,when Prince was auditioning to find a replacement for Vanity in 'Purple Rain','Flashdance' star Jennifer Beals was at the audition? Do you think she would have made a good "Apollonia"?

DavidEye, 'Sparkle'! Yes! I loved that movie! And I mean loved! Still love it! 'Fame' too of course! Im still trying to get a copy of 'Aaron Loves Angela' which I never saw.

I also loved her in 'Electric Company'(that's when my crush on her began!) Yeah the 80's she was all over the place 'FlashDance ' went thru the roof all over the world.

Remember 'DC Cab' with Mr.T?! And she made a cameo?
Jennifer Beals auditioned for Applonia? Whaaaaat? I never knew that? Hmmm, that mighta been interesting, I can kinda see that-yeah I can!

I wonder if Ms. Cara and Prince ever met, esp during her Fame or Flashdance days at any of the award shows, etc.?

I too am looking for her 1975 movie 'Aaron Loves Angela',which I never saw.I saw 'Fame'and'Sparkle' but I missed that 'DC Cab' movie.How was it?

I don't know is she ever met Prince,but it seems that she would have been his "type",dontcha think?

Yep,Jennifer auditioned for the Apollonia role in 'Purple Rain'.When you think about it,she would have been a great choice.She was riding high after the success of 'Flashdance',so she would have been a popular, high-profile co-star.She's pretty,she's a decent actress,but I don't know if she would have done the Apollonia 6 album...lol...

Irene Cara was quite cute back in the day, but she was too damn skinny for me..

I remember that scene at the end of "Fame" where she's like auditioning for something, & the dude who's filming her wants her to take off her top, & her character's all traumatized & (naively) shocked that this dude wants to see her topless..
so finally, bawling her eyes out, she removes her top..

I could see why she'd be crying..

i had a crush, i mean huge crush on her back in the day! still do! and i'm a girl!

i love her!!! i still have all her albums (and will be getting the caramel one!) saw all the t.v. specials and movies (including A Certain Fury with Nicolas Cage and Tatum O'Neal) i got two signed pictures of her!

did i mention i love her!

whatangelsdesire, that Ananda Lewis comparison is what I thought too when I first saw Ananda!

If they still gonna remake 'Sparkle', Ananda definitely has her look! But I still love Irene more!
