PHIL ANSELMO TALKS ABOUT DIMEBAG... Poor Phil, this is the first time I've gotten to see this tonight, so thought i'd post the link here for those interested too.
It's really hard-hitting, I really feel for him. He seems so alone and crushed. I've been a fan of Pantera since late 89/90 - and this is nothing even remotely like the Phil Anselmo I know - or he'd ever want to willingly show. So this video taped statement sent out to the American media...well, it left me speechless pretty much. SO, for what it's worth, here it is: CLICK ME  | |

I listened to Pantera a lot in college, and I like them. I hate to say it, but Anselmo came off a bit full of himself in that. He kept saying how it was all about Dimebag and not Pantera, then he went on to talk about himself and how "Pantera changed people's lives." I don't doubt that he's crushed by his death, but I don't understand the point of the video. | |

somebody please fill me in on the Dimebag - Pantera story.....I know Dimebag had already left the band....why wasn't Anselmo allowed to attend the funeral? What is the media-role he is talking about?

Good thread. I met Dimebag at Guitar Center in Sherman Oaks in 2003. I asked him did he leave playing Dean guitars (the kind I play and prefer) for Washburn cuz they promised him his own model? We rapped awhile about that and our love for Ace Frehley. He was a nice, real down to earth cat. What happened to him was very, very tragic. this is off topic but did you ever hear the rumor that phil was a racist? a friend of mine swore she went to see pantera play back in the 90's and they had confederate flags. | |
