Backstreet Boys plan Detroit stop on new tour Saturday, March 5, 2005
ASSOCIATED PRESS NEW YORK -- Backstreet's back. Again. Backstreet Boys, the boy band who demanded "I Want It That Way," have announced a set of tour dates starting March 21 in New York. They won't play Madison Square Garden this time around -- or any of their previous gigantic arena hotspots. The Boys' 13-city tour is a club-only affair, stopping at such intimate venues as the State Theatre in Detroit on April 5 and the 9:30 Club in Washington. According to their label, Jive Records, they will perform all their hits plus a few songs from their upcoming CD. The Backstreet Boys, who debuted in 1997, are putting the finishing touches on a forthcoming as-yet-untitled album, their first original outing since 2000's "Black and Blue." Over the past few years, the group's members have mostly stayed out of the spotlight except for a few benefit performances. In 2002, Nick Carter released a solo album. Last December, Brian Littrell signed a deal with Christian record label Reunion Records. http://www.freep.com/news...050305.htm

The AA thing's still happening, I assume. Dude fell off the wagon a few times, but he seems alright now. As for the marriage? That fell apart before they got to the altar. Never struck me as someone who should've been in a boyband in the first place, but whatever. . If he didn't like it, I'm sure he could leave. And yeah, 12 years this April 20th. That's a damn long time for any group to stick together, let alone a boyband. I'm so proud. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Do you think anyone actually cares about them anymore?
All the girls who fell in love with them are all probably in committed relationships or married by now

All the girls who fell in love with them are all probably in committed relationships or married by now Huh? Figure most of those girls were 15 at the oldest in 1998 (I would figure most where like 10)....So they are only in their mid-twenties now (most are probably still teenagers). I don't know that many of them are married or in committed relationships...I just think they've probably moved n musically and are listening to much harder stuff now.

i saw one of them on Fear Factor Today (Kevin?)..a sure sign of career toiletry...as for New Edition, nobody wants to hear their new shit, just Candy Girl and Mr. Telephone Man, which sound really awful sung by men in their mid-30's...Johnny Gill is the only one with any kind of singing voice left...the rest just suck monkey balls. That's why I love Prince so much... he pretty much still looks the same, sounds the same and rock the joint like 20 years ago. you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

did u need to crap on other artist just to reinforce how you feel about prince? someone could easily say that prince's music is currently crap..or that its been crap since after lovesexy..... it all comes down to the music, if its good..sweet..if you dont like it, thats okay... but if the shit aint even created yet, stop crappin. hold the crap and wait. [/quote] geez .....calm down.. the point i was making was that fans want to hear the songs they know, not an entire new album. I don't recall BSB as being vocal powerhouses, a lot of choreography and pyrotechnics...and New Edition does sound like shit live now anywhoo...since we're on the BSB subject.... Nick Carter arrested for alleged drunken driving HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys was arrested last weekend for alleged drunken driving, police said. Carter, who used to date socialite Paris Hilton, has reunited with the pop band Backstreet Boys for a 13-city tour. By Mark J. Terrill, AP Carter, 25, was behind the wheel of a vehicle observed committing a traffic violation when police stopped him Saturday night in downtown Huntington Beach, police Lt. Dave Bunetta said. "The officer that stopped him noticed some traffic violation was occurring," Bunetta said. "When he was contacted by the officers they conducted an investigation which would include field sobriety tests and they formed the opinion he was under the influence." Carter was arrested and booked for investigation of drunken driving and his vehicle was impounded, Bunetta said. The type of vehicle wasn't disclosed. It wasn't known how long Carter was in jail. Motorists arrested for drunken driving in Huntington Beach are typically held for a minimum of four hours then, after evaluation, are released with a citation ordering them to appear in court within 45 days, Bunetta said. "Nick Carter deeply regrets the current situation. He is on doctor-prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities," Carter publicist Juliette Harris said in a statement Monday. The Backstreet Boys, whose hits include "I Want it That Way," "Shape of My Heart" and "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely," recently announced a 13-city tour that will start March 21 in New York. Jive Records said they will perform all their hits plus songs from their upcoming CD. The Backstreet Boys haven't produced a new album since 2000's "Black & Blue." Carter released a solo album in 2002. Backstreet's Back, Allright1 [Edited 3/7/05 16:54pm] you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

This stuff is nothing new though, Nick and AJ have been behaving like this for years -hence the rehab and prior arrests. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I never liked Backstreet but really try not to hate any artists. I'm just saying this is going to be a failure, good music or not. The media has made up it's mind and unless the fans are really rapid (and since my sister is a fine example of a fan of pop who has turned on them and pop music in general) I don't see it happening for them. I guess I wish them good luck, though. I really try never to wish failure on anyone.
