I'm a huge Bob fan. For the most part, I hate the newer remixes of his stuff that add contemporary performers. But the exceptions are Lauryn Hill on "Turn Your Lights Down Low" and this one with Erykah.  I don't even want to like them, but I have to!  The Normal Whores Club | |

OMG, another post! It's a miracle. I've always wondered why, in a forum of rabid music fans, threads on Bob always seem to die. Where's the love for this incredible artist, poet and force for change?

Yeah, Bob's the man!
About his threads dying, I don't know.  When I was younger I was a little standoffish when it came to reggae, because most of the stuff I was exposed to were covers of top forty. It wasn't until I was about 21, 22 that I gave Bob a chance. The first album I heard was Natty Dread, the rest is history. Luckily, I had a way cool landlord who stayed up stairs from me and left his door open all the time with an open invitation for me to come up anytime and grab something from his collection. He just happened to have an extensive Bob collection!  That was all I listened to for a whole summer  Along with Pablo Agustus, Jimmy Cliff and various other reggae artist. I ended up getting my roomate hooked on the stuff and he's been playing in a reggae band ever since. He also has dreadlocks that come down to his BUTT!!

I admit in a rather DEEP shame that the only album I have from him is th infamous compilation Legend.

One thing for damn sure, I couldn't get enough of "Punky Reggae Party" if I tried Okay, you need to run, not walk, to the wrecka stow. I promise to buy some of those Arabic CDs if you go get yourself a copy of Catch A Fire, Burnin', Exodus...hell, anything official (avoid the many shitty compilations of inferior versions that are floating around) - you will not be disappointed. Anyways, Yeah Bob!! I want a landlord like that!If I didn't own, I would too. Seriously he rocked! And he never yelled at me when I was 2 months late with the rent or when My cat sprayed the hallway. He was one of those laid back beatniks.
