Interesting thought, The lyrics alone stand out and so many people can relate. I would'nt dare compare this single to the majority of the crap that's on radio today. I believe she deserves more credit than that.

If the lyrics are what makes it great, why should she get more credit than that? She didn't write it. razz They even use a sample of a good Isley Brothers tune - Highway of My Life - but I still just think it's alright. Like I said, I don't think it's bad, just not very memorable.

Whether she wrote it or not, it's a nice song. I like everything about it, the music, the vocal arrangement, the lyrics etc. razz. I'll be the first to tell you I wish artist would stop sampling popular songs and ruining them but in this case, there is an exception to the rule. Soulshock and Karlin made great use of the sample. As much as I love and listen to The Isleys, I was never a fan of "Highways of My Life" (hell I don't even know if it was popular), it's at the very bottom of the list as far as Isley tracks. You're definitely entitled to your opinion, I just thought it was interesting biggrin.

Thanks, sure will. I just did a search for Fantasia's official website, and got a site, but I wasn't sure if it was the correct one. smile

She has a ton of fan sites so I thought I would post the official one so that you would know which one to go to.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Going to d/l that video now. biggrin

I hate sampling too, for the most part. It's just an easy way for an artist to make money off someone else's song. But, I do have to agree that "Truth Is" is still a nice song. I absolutely love everything about it, especially the piano solo in the very beginning of the song. I have to find the Isley Brother's song "Highways of My Life", since I like them alot, but have never heard this song. smile

Not that I wanna get into all that again, but see, sampling can turn people onto music they've never heard! Just watched the video, it's a decent song, nothing spectacular, but I'll think she'll be around longer than Clay/Ruben. She's very charming, and has a nice voice...she can jump around without seeming show-offy or losing the meaning of the words.

I really like that song. I got the album a couple of months ago and it's a pretty good album. I think that if she works with a really good producer, she could become a real powerhouse, I really believe that.

I saw her on Soul Train singing this recently, and I could've sworn they said that Tamyra Gray (sp?) wrote this tune. I don't feel like doing the research right now, but is this true? I could've sworn it was, but since no one here has brought that up I'm now not so sure. If she did write it, you go Tamyra, the "shoulda been" winner of the first American Idol!! smile

Truth Is: I am not really feeling the girl's voice. She is not a great vocalist but I wish her luck. I do agree with some of the other orgers that Gray sounded better than her and should have won.

Trenyce sings better then both of them! Saw her sing "Proud Mary" and "I Have Nothing" live. Girl stole the show. Even the critics praises Trenyce's performance as the one where you really felt you were at a concert.
