Anybody Knows About Steely Dan's Aja?

I've been listening to people saying how good and bad this album was. I've been reading some reviews on the album and some people don't even rate it high like Katy Lied, Pretzel Logic, or even Countdown To Ecstasy. I ordered it today and I was listening to the sound samples. I like the jazz and R&B influences on this album. So, what do you think of the album?

Great, Great, Great. Run, don't walk and get this album you will not be disappointed. No filler some of the best jazz/pop/ R&B music anywhere. I think Namepeace did a thread on this album a few month's ago check the search (if it's working).

IMO, Steely Dan's Most Accomplished Album - their Masterpiece...I think it's the culmination of everything they had done up to that point, a great marriage of their Jazz, Pop/rock and R&B influences, and, while I like most of their later stuff, (including the solo albums), they haven't reached such consistent heights since, though Donald Fagen's The Nightfly came close...

This is an example of what I'd consider a perfect album nod

When you listen to the title track, keep in mind that Steve Gadd recorded his drums in one take!!!!! It was said that the other musicans that played on the session were awe struck that he did that on the first take.

Their most overrated album after Pretzel Logic, after 30 minutes you'll be wondering what the big deal was and realize that you heard this entire album in snippets on the elevator, at the coffee house, at the book store, and on the so called "Jazz" station your co-worker listens to at the office.

worship What you said - great album, though at this very moment, I'm feeling Pretzel Logic a bit more.

Steely Dan never made a bad record. And Aja is truly amongst their best along with Pretzel Logic, Gaucho, and 2 Against Nature, IMO.
