I just fell in love I've FINALLY gotten Jeff Buckley's "Grace". I know a lot of people here love it and I've heard everyone just gush over this album, so it's been one of those that I've just never gotten around to getting until now. Mostly because I kept forgetting, and also a bit because I just assumed that it must be overrated with him being dead and all, blah blah blah, just me being stubborn. So I've just listened to it and my first thought was: "This man was a genius". I don't know if I've ever heard anything so beautiful. I got tears in my eyes during "Lilac Wine" and I don't know why. His voice was just so beautiful. (God I must just be emotional this week. First I cry about the Cream tickets, and now this. ) What makes it worse, and I'm sure this is exactly what all his fans are always thinking, is that we'll never get any more music from this beautiful man. It makes it almost hard to even listen to this album. So sad. So come on and say "I told you so!" everyone. I've listened to it and really like it, but I've not purchased it yet.

also, check out his unfinished Sketches for "My Sweetheart, the Drunk" ....I love those songs, too, but it's kind of a sad signpost to what could have been....
the song, "Everybody Here Wants You" tears me up.... ... [Edited 2/2/05 8:37am] " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

What can I say?
The day we lost Buckley, music lost a bit of future I wanted to have been part of. His music strikes chords.

You could always consider checking out his dad... ...Tim Buckley It's in the genes you know (more on this later). This might be the place to start... ...Goodbye and Hello (Easy tunes to learn on your new guitar) Once you've settled into that, let him spin your head around with... ...Greetings from L.A. Keep in mind that this is late 60s early 70s era material. Now remember I said, "It's in the genes..."? It's deeper than you think. His father also died an early death. Only his was not as accidental as his son's. Tim Buckley died at 28 years old of a heroin overdose. Isn't eerie how close in age their exits were or am I just being extra creepy? tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I love his father's work just as much--if not more, but I would also include Happy/Sad-----beautiful and haunting music and songs.

I can't ignore this one, if there is a man's voice I truly love, Jeff is on my list along with Donny Hathaway, Marvin, Prince and Stevie. I could put Hallelujah & Lilac Wine on repeat forever and never be tired of them. Damn I only wish I had heard of him back when Grace was originally released. Jeux Sans Frontiers

Its something musically thats a beautiful find.

I just started listening to him a little over a year ago and just watching him play on the DVD or listening to him makes me just want to go play like Prince does.....Most of the songs on Grace are like mini symphonies.

ok now you HAVE to get the posthumously released stuff:
the main album: Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk see also: Live at Sine - expanded edition - AWESOME Grace - expanded edition - AWESOME disc of prev. unreleased tracks. all the other releases don't quite capture the magic as well, unless you like hearing Jeff occasionally wail like an injured bird. . I knew that they both died very young, but not much more than that. Cool about the easy tunes though. And you're always extra creepy.
