ARCADE FIRE - Funeral

anybody else really loving this CD? I've heard so many good things about it that I bought it recently, and it does not disappoint. Very much in the Modest Mouse, Pixies. Belle & Sebastian frame, but a little different. Very intense, raw, melodic, emotional... i'm a loving it.

anyone else pick this up yet? it was in Rolling Stone magazines best CDs of 2004 list, among others....

I am so sorry for only seeing this.

I am a HUGE fan of this band. Try to find their TOAST radio performance; awesomely funny.

Anyways, I got their album for free as a promo from their Dutch record co and I have played it like crazy. Their lyrics are amazing.

And don't be stressed about the no reacting. I put out a review on the BBC Collective and there was ample response there too. Does not mean the fans are not there, because I am sure they just did not see this thread in between the Britney/Janet/Michael Jackson-threads...

I love the way this band takes so many influences and then makes it into something so distinctly their own... just like Prince did, back in the day.

Just totally dig the lovestory, the sadness that brought forth this album. Having had a rough year, the lyrics just grab my soul everytime I hear them.

The way they use wacky instruments and use male/female voices.... mushy

I play The Arcade Fire for all my friends and there are not as many takers as I would like. Some people just mumble 'they're like Radiohead' and 'strange voice' but it only makes me like them more, hehehe.

Let's just say that to me that this album, in retrospect, was my second best album of last year. Where as Franz Ferdinand made me love live music again, this band just makes me adore MUSIC.

Just saw that performance on Conan tonight, and what a joke! Hilarious to see the lead singer get smacked in the head by a drumstick. What the hell were those percussionists doing anyway?! All those guys looked and acted like they're on meth.
