I dig the old Time lineup...& seeing them now don't do what it used 2. The Time that opened 4 Prince during the 1999 tour is what I remember best, cause that was there best. Where Prince can keep going up another level with his live show through out the years adding more depth & dizzying perfection, The Time has really seemed 2 have suffered. There single biggest mistake was breaking up after the filming of Purple Rain & not taking advantage of the movie where Morris was funny as Hell~ Very bad timing 2 say the least. Vanity's leaving B4 the filiming started I can understand seeing her condition...but The Time, even without Terry & Jimmy would have been a bigger hit if they had worked the whole "84-85" experience ~ But as a single artist Jesse Johnson's music was far more pleasing then what Morris offered up, at least 4 me~

I agree with you.Breaking up at the height of their popularity was a HUGE career mistake that they have never fully recovered from.In 1984,there were plans for The Time to finally headline their own tour, and they could have easily sold out big arenas back then. They should have rode the 'Purple Rain' momentum for all it was worth. On the other hand,I liked Jesse's solo albums, and Morris's album wasn't bad, either.

I went to see Morris Day and The Time in 1996 when they came here to Atlanta. It was a pretty good show. I still long for the original lineup of this great group. There were rumours that Jimmy,Terry, and Jesse were going to join for this reunion tour, but that's all it was....RUMORS!!!!, Still the replacement guys kicked booty. And Morris can still slide across that floor....CHILLI SAUCE, OW LAWD!!!!!
