Motown Copying Itself Spot tracks where Motown used either:
a) The same instrumental but different vocalists or b) The same arrangement or instrumental on completely different songs! examples: a) I Gotta Find A Way To Get You Back - recorded by Tammi Terrell and The Temptations; uses the same instrumental, but has a gender switch in the lyrics b) Whatever Makes You Happy (Smokey Robinson & The Miracles) and Your Heart Belongs To Me (The Supremes). Use the same arrangement and general background vocals, but has completely different lyrics. [Edited 1/26/05 20:15pm]

This is interesting but not something I've noticed.
Only where things were "familiar", not unlike Mary J re-enunciating Madonna.

The intros to The Four Tops songs It's The Same Old Song and I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) are very similar. [Edited 1/26/05 22:39pm] a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

[Edited 1/26/05 22:39pm] i think Gordy had this formula he wanted to follow in order to sell records.
