Tiempo Para Los "Latin Grammys"!

Well...it appears 3's a charm...and at the venue where Prince did his Hollywood show, the Kodak Theater!

Read this:

Academy Sets Time, Place for Latin Grammys
Thu Apr 25, 8:35 PM ET

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Reuters) - The third time has got to be a charm -- at least that's what organizers are hoping as they announced Thursday the venue and date for the 3rd Annual Latin Grammys (news - web sites), which were canceled twice last year.

The Recording Academy said the Latin Grammys will be held on Sept. 18, 2002 at the new glitzy Kodak Theater, home of the Oscars (news - web sites) in Hollywood, and will be broadcast domestically by CBS.

It's a far cry from the second annual Latin Grammys which, after several disruptions, finally took place in October 2001 at a toned-down news conference in a Los Angeles nightclub.

The Latin Grammys bad fortune began last year when they were relocated at the last-minute from Miami to Los Angeles because of threatened anti-Castro protests.

The show, scheduled for Sept. 11 -- the day that hijacked planes rammed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon (news - web sites), killing an estimated 3,000 people -- was then put on hold pending further notice.

Ultimately, winners gathered in a nightclub called the Conga Room for the long-delayed awards ceremony on an afternoon in October.

This year's move to the high-profile and glitzy Kodak Theater should restore the show back to its original intent of showcasing the diverse and vibrant Latin music industry.

"Along with the world, the Latin Recording Academy has had a year that's tested its perseverance, as well as its dedication to celebrating music as passionately as it has since it first started three years ago," said Grammys chief Michael Greene.

CBS will also distribute the show internationally through CBS Broadcast International, providing the show to an estimated 120 countries.

¡Que viva la musica!

I just hope that Sheila E. gets to lead the orchestra once again!

ALSO - shouldn't it be the Hispanic Grammys, since it's been determined that "Latin" is NOT the correct term to denote our people?
