on DVD: Miles Electric: Miles Davis at the Isle of Wight For anybody who's interested in the early part of the Miles Davis "Electric Era"(from "In A Silent Way" and "Bitches Brew" to "Get Up with It"), there's a new DVD called Miles Electric: A Different Kind Of Blue. It features interviews with Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock , Joni Mitchell, Chick Corea, Mtume, Pete Cosey, Airto, Keith Jarrett, Jack Dejohnette, Gary Bartz, etc...(and even Stanley Crouch explaining why he could never get into this music!), and it includes the 38 minute performance footage of Miles's 1970 Isle of Wight performance ...

Yeah, I'm glad that people are beginning to re-examine that period of Miles's music that had previously been so discredited and critically dismissed...and now that most of the music has been reissued, we're finally starting to see some of the performance footage turn up...I hope this continues! There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently | |

Very cool that this is out. It seems that "Crouch the Grouch" can't get into anything past the swing/bop era Another decent Miles DVD... ...Live in Montreal Maybe not as fiery as a younger Miles, but the band is killer: Bob Berg - sax John Scofield - guitar Darryl Jones - bass Robert Irving III - keys Vince Wilburn - drums Steve Thornton - percussion tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
