There are a lot of songs both old and new that rely poorly on a sampled hook to make for a good song, but what are some of your favorites that you think use the sample well? Some of my favorites:

Cold Rock a Party (Remix) - MC Lyte (Upside Down - Diana Ross - probably the only Ross song that Puffy raped where I actually liked the end result)

I love all the Kim Basinger "ugh"'s that Prince used in about 5,000 songs in the 90's. He got a lot of mileage out of that one.

btw, which Public Enemy song was it that sampled the "get in your cell nigger, god" line from Living for the city?

Beastie Boys-"Paul's Boutique". The entire album is a sampling masterpiece

I prefer the samples so masked that they aren't cleared, but after hearing the album a few times, you figure them out.

I only like them when they are done in short, multiple "snips" (more like mixing). When they become the complete background music for the song, that turns me off.
