No More Tears (Enough Is Enough): Disco Classic or Rot?

So...i am listening to my newly purchased Donna Summer's Greatest Hits Gold Collection and I hear babs wailing in my speakers. I had completly forgot that this was a duet with the two of them... lol

As a kid I remember my stepmom (who is a huge babs fan) hating this song and i dont think my disco loving aunt ever mentioned liking it.....So that made me wonder.....

To the Donna fans, is this a loved or hated track? And is this considered a disco classic or a lame attempt at coolness on Bab's part?

I love this song, but for me only the 12" version is worth listening to. The single version cuts out too much good stuff. I think it's one of Donna's better pure-disco cuts ver that era of her career. I also love all the tales of the two of them battling it out in the studio. giggle

This is one of the few Donna Summer hits that I don't like. The whole thing just sounds silly, campy and overblown. Also,I don't think Donna and Barbra sound great together. And wassup with extending this song to 11 minutes? I can never ever get through that entire thing...lol...it's extremely tiresome and annoying.

Keep it that way. There is a reason for that.

This is one Donna Summer track that I don't like at all. It sounds like one of those classic "queen" anthems.

Not one of my favorites. In fact, most of her album tracks from that era are much better. It's not even her best Before I became a huge fan, I knew of most of Donna;s big hits already but this one and "Finger Of the Trigger" I had never heard of before buying her stuff. It's not even her best proper duet. Needless to say, "Heaven Knows" with Brooklyn Dreams blows it away but even more than that, the track "I Believe In You" off the intended for 1981 album "I'm A Rainbow" with one of the B Dreams, Joe Espositio, is probably her best, but also probably her least heard!

Underrated singer w/ a great voice. She did the version of No More Tears with Donna on Live & More Encore.

she's a singer from Austrilia.

She was on Young Talent Time with Dannii Minogue, and I think she might have been in the same soap as Dannii as well.

She does dance, and she is fairly popular outside the US, but not as big as say Umm Kylie Minogue

Looks like most people here don't really like this song too much lol

It's a sucky song but I can tolerate it when I'm listening to a Donna Summer compilation.I prefer the single version that appears on the 2-CD 'Anthology'.The version that appears on 'Endless Summer' and 'The Journey' are horrible. And I avoid the full-length 11-minute version at all costs lol

I remember "On the Radio" being one of the few CDs I brought with me to Italy and at the time it was new to me and I kind of got used to that long mix but now it seems like overkill. Of the big hits, probably my least favorite still.

Hey David, what are your thoughts on "I'm A Rainbow". It seems to be a love it or hate it album. I love it.

We'll have to do a thread about 'I'm A Rainbow'.The whole story regarding that album is very interesting. It's not one of my favorite Donna albums, but I like a handful of songs.

Are you referring to a sketch or something? Because the 45 I had of this hilariously paired Buckwheat against Richard Simmons.

'No tun-tine, no moon-night, no tar-dust, no tine of mo-mance . . me don't dand a tance.'

P.S. I do recall the summer of Enough Is Enough . . .I was a big Donna Summer fan, but tired of this one pretty damn fast. The song did have its uses though, cause at the time I had this teacher who when she got fed up with the class would scream 'Enough is ENOUGH!' . .and then me and my friends would do the echo "is enough is enough is enough," which would piss her off even more.
