Clifton Davis wrote one of the greatest songs; Never can say goodbye. He was also an actor playing the preacher on Amen. I heard there was a rumor that him and michael were lovers. Has anyone else heard this?

I remember that rumor. Supposedly, Clifton Davis was going to get a sex change so he could marry Michael.

Yeah Mike did an interview where he mentioned that story back in the 70's. Can't remember where it is right now. He said something like they both showed up to a party with female dates holding hands and it would have been the perfect opertunity for the tabloids to doctor pictures making it look like Mike and Clifton were holding hands (there weren't any pictures of them holding hands). He said that they hadn't seen eachother in a long time and caught up with eachother at the party. This was when the media were having a field day with the gay rumours and sex change rumours (yes, this started in the 70's).

Sounds like another crazy 70s rumor,kinda like the ridiculous story (which began circulating in 1977) that Donna Summer is actually a transvesite.Or the absurd Rod Stewart story from 1979,which I won't repeat here

I vaguely recall gay rumors re: Davis but never heard the one about him and Michael.

He was just on NY radio about a month or so ago and talked about the rumors saying how silly they were. He’s almost 15 years older than Michael and said he was never into little or young ‘girls’. He also wrote Looking Through the Window and Love Song for J5 a few other songs.

I remember the gay rumors.
