I used to enjoy the video of "Paradise By The Dashboard Light",but only because of cute little Karla Devito. boxed

Oops typo , (it first said this songs kicks ass)
I meant the song "Bat Out Of Hell" only
(tho the whole album is good imo)

I both enjoyed the video and the music to that song
(tho it's played out now)
Meat Loaf's a great singer worship

I give meat loaf props, but I seem to find alot of people hate him.

I love thr track "bat out of hell" as well as "you took the words right out of my mouth" and "2 out of 3 ain't bad"

"paradise by the dashboard light" is cool too. Corny (that was its intention of course) with the bass ball methaphors and all, but I love it. The tempo changes on this track, and others r superb. As of course r the vocals and production

"bat out of hell 2" was a letdown, though "rock and roll dreams" and the humouressly titled "i would do anything for love (but I won't do that)" were great tracks.

Jim did some good work on the soundtrack to "streets of fire" (an 80's flick)

I want that as a poster so badly.....

"dead ringer 4 love" was cool too, as was "gonna love her for both of us" "modern girl" "midnight at the lost and found" and the sad "read 'em and weep".....

by the way, I do see some Meat loaf in Michael Bolton. Check "how can we be lovers".....I swear I can hear meat singing this, but to a more rock backing biggrin

Didnt he completely wreck his vocal chords at one point? I vaguely recall him canceling a tour at the time.

Don't know that movie "Streets Of Fire"
and the songs you mentioned after "Dead Ringer For love"
i'd like to nod
Sorry , but i can't agree with your comparison with Michael Bolton disbelief
imo he just shouts , whereas Meat Loaf's singing is technically good

Don't know . but i remeber hearing he needed an oxigen mask (or whatever they're called) when performing

Btw he always sounds off key performing live
Strange !

I just was never able to get into his music....I have nothing bad to say.
I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there.
I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish.

If your gonna give it up for Meat, you also have to give it up for his partner in crime, Jim Steinman. No Meat without Jim.

Good call. I have to pull this album out.

Well , his music might be a little over dramatic to some
(because of Jim Steinman)

In true rock n roll fashion, Meat collapsed onstage in London in Nov. or Dec. of '03; heart problems I think. Haven't heard anything since then.

lol

Saw him on tv about 2 years ago
He seemed to have lost
quite a few pounds ,
Always thought he had problems performing
live because of his overweight
Didn't know it was his heart , hope he's alright

My guiltiest pleasure..have you seen the classic album doco about it? Meat is a bit of an egomaniac but Todd Rundgren was obviously a very smart guy. Love it

yeah he is rather theatrical...

yeah I've seen that video. His best video was "rock and roll dreams" song he did in the early 90's though. "i would do anything 4 love" was HUUUUUGE at the time.

I like some of the non steinmen stuff. Don't be put off.....just don't try anything past "bat out of hell 2" biggrin
