Albums That "Play" Like Movies

I was just thinking about a few albums I listen to which have the sound and feel of a movie, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Here are a few of mine:

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Raekwon: Plays out like an action/drama flick, almost like Scarface.

It Takes A Nation of Millions . . ., Public Enemy

Sea Change, Beck

A Love Supreme, John Coltrane

Kind of Blue, Miles Davis Quintet: It sounds as if this CD were recorded in outer space sometimes.

Donna Summer's "Once Upon A Time" is pretty tight concept album but isn't very specfic, as is "Four Seasons Of Love".

Madvillainy, Madvillain (a/k/a Madlib and MF Doom): This album is not only brilliant, but it has the unpredictability, quirkiness and cohesiveness of a Wes Anderson flick.

i always thought Bjork's remix album for Homogenic; "Telegraph" was a story about a shy girl who was molested and overcame her pain...

For me it's In A Silent Way that sounds like...

...a soundtrack for space travel. ufo

And then of course there's this...

...where the only turbulence (or plot inconsistency) occurs is during Little Miss Strange.

I've never listened to this. Guess it's not surprising that The original title of Spike Lee's "Mo' Better Blues" was "A Love Supreme."

My choice: Al Green's "I'm Still In Love With You." I don't know so much that it "plays like a movie" but when I listen to it, I imagine it as the soundtrack to a romantic movie. heart

I highly commend it to you.

And I agree with you wholeheartedly. "I.S.I.L.W.Y." does play like a love story.
