Destiny's Child "Soldier" -- A new low for music?

One note and Casio-keyboard beats, the whole way through? neutral

I thought you were going to bring up the lyrics. Could you imagine young girls singing stuff like that?

There are worse songs in both production & lyrical content.
tho' I battled blind
love is a fate resigned
memories mar my mind
love it is a fate resigned

Over futile odds
and laughed at by the Gods
and now the final frame
Love is a losing game

lol I agree, I honestly don't see the hype with DC...for someone to continue to brag about writing their songs, the content sure does suck, they are far from being great song writers. The music itself is for the moment music. Their songs are far from being timeless.
Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight
Just let me rock you 'til the morning liiiiiiight
It's cold outside
And much too late to driiiiiiiive
You know I need you baby
I'm so lost without your love

them broads are corny...I can get better lyrics from a $2 hooker on the track..
I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.

I haven't heard the song but one of my coworkers who is a big DC fan rolled her eys at me when I asked it if it was tribute to the soldiers in the Middle East. She said something like "No-it's about wanting a guy with a great body like a 'handsome soldier.'

I think I walked away after that.

falloff You hit the nail right on the head with that one... My crew thought she fell and busted her a@@ at the beginning of the Crazy in Love video...it took us awhile to figure out it was a dance move... lol "Soldier" still isn't as bad as "Cater 2 U" though...

This song is one reason why I rarely listen to the radio these days. This is exactly what R&B music has evolved into....lame,tuneless,hip-hop flavored garbage.Weak lyrics and no real melody to speak of...

"better be street if he lookin' at me
known to carry big things if you know what I mean"

I cringe everytime I hear this song or see the video. Its obvious this is a song they made to show the sign of the times ( I said SOTT giggle...Prince...mushy) of the music industry today. I feel bad for Michelle who in the video looked like she wanted to stop dancing and go hide in a corner reading her bible until the shoot was over. Kelly honestly looked like she had the hoochie role down pat with the winding of the hips...I cant describe the way Beyonce looked... mostly like she knew she would catch more flack for being in the video so she didnt care. sigh All them grammies and honorable mentions and legends backing them up for what? For everyone to jam to..."Soldier"? disbelief They feel they've proved themselves already hence the title of the album "Destiny Fulfilled". rolleyes

I was thinking the same thing about Michelle...poor girl...I just don't view them as ride or die chicks...DC is not what comes to mind when I think of Gangsta Bitch...Let Remy Martin Or Shawnna run up on one of them chicks...they would probably shit on themselves...
