here's what i found on google:

http://www.soulwalking.co...Jones.html

b. 1959, Houston, Texas, U.S.A.

Oran 'Juice' Jones is a fine singer and songwriter, who cites Smokey Robinson as one of his musical influences.

Born in Houston and raised in Harlem, Oran signed to New York's Def Jam / OBR labels (via CBS) in 1985.

At Def Jam, he released a debut album entitled 'Juice' in 1986.

The album included the popular hit single 'The Rain' and was dedicated to his Grandfather Mr. Jesse Oran White Snr, who passed away in 1983.

'G.T.O. - Gangsters Takin' Over' followed in 1987 and included 'Rock The Night Away' and 'How To Love Again' (a duet with Alyson Williams).

He also recorded another duet with Alyson Williams, entitled 'To Love Again,' which appeared on on the movie soundtrack 'Less than Zero'.

'To Be Immortal', subsequently followed in 1989 and contained the single 'Pipedreams', a track that contained background vocal input from Def Jam label-mate Tashan.

The track 'Street Style' featured vocal input from Chuck Stanley, who also contributed to Oran's previous albums.

Since the 1989 album release, Oran has been performing with the artists Chris Rock (he recorded background vocals on 'Roll With the New' in 1997), Shaniqua and Zhigge.

In 1997, an album entitled 'Players Call' was released on Tommy Boy Records and featured Oran's version of the Al Green evergreen 'Let's Stay Together'.

The last time I heard that song was when a friend of mine made an 80's R&B compilation last year. It was added for pure comedic value. lol

Hey, we may as well sing the infamous "The Rain" biggrin music

I saw you and him
Walking in the rain
You were holding hands
And I’ll never be the same

Tossin’ and turning, another sleepless night
The rain crashes against my window pane
Jumped into my car, didn’t drive too far
That moment I knew I would never be the same

‘Cause I saw you and him
Walking in the rain
You were holding hands
And I’ll never be the same

I saw you and him
Walking in the rain
You were holding hands
And I’ll never be the same

Now here you are begging to me
To give our love another try
Girl, I love you and I always will
But darling, right now I got to say, “Goodbye”

I saw you and him
Walking in the rain
You were holding hands
And I’ll never be the same

I saw you and him
Walking in the rain
You were holding hands
And I’ll never be the same

Hey, hey, baby, how you doin’
Come on in here
Got some hot chocolate on the stove waitin’ for you
Listen, first things first
Let me hang up that coat
Yeah, how was your day today
Did you miss me
Oh, you did, yeah, I missed you too
I missed you so much I followed you today
That’s right, now close your mouth ‘cause you cold busted
That’s right, now sit down here, sit down here
I’m so upset with you I don’t know what to do
My first impulse was to run up on you and do a Rambo
I’m about to jammie and flat blast both of you
I didn’t want to mess up this $3,700 lynx coat
So instead I chill, that’s right, chill
And I went to the bank, took out every dime
And I went and cancelled all those credit cards, yeah
All your charge cards accounts, yeah
I stuck you up with every piece of jewelry I bought you, yeah, that’s right
Everything, everything
'Get fly with me, nah don’t go, don’t go lookin’ in that closet
‘Cause you ain’t got nothin’ in there
Everything you came here with is packed up and waitin’ for you in the guest room
That’s right
What was you thinkin’ about, huh
What were you tryin’ to prove, huh
You’s with the Juice
Girl, I gave you silk suits, Gucci handbags, blue diamonds
I gave you things you couldn’t even pronounce
Now I can’t give you nothin’ but advice
‘Cause you’re still young
That’s right, you’re still young
I hope you learn a valuable lesson from all this, you know
You’re gonna find somebody like me one of these days
Until then, you know what you gotta do
You gotta get on outta here with alley cat
Coat wearin, hush puppy wearin’ crumb cake I saw you with
‘Cause you dismissed
That’s right
Silly rabbit, Trix are made for kids, don’t you know that
You without me, like Corn Flake without the milk
It’s my world, you just a squirrel tryin’ to get a nut
Now get on outta here with that
Don’t touch that coat

As far as the current with Oran, I just saw him on a court show a few weeks ago as a witness for the defendant. The people in the court room recognized him (he is still known today for that one song and got love from the people in the court room). I think it was Texas Justice
Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight
Just let me rock you 'til the morning liiiiiiight
It's cold outside
And much too late to driiiiiiiive
You know I need you baby
I'm so lost without your love

Does anyone remember the answer record to "The Rain"? it was by Miss Thang it was called "Thunder & Lightning" I believe it was released on tommy Boy records back in 86...the course went "Thunder and lightning it's a quiet storm...when your heart is broken into....theirs nothing to live for..." and it was pretty much some chick talking shit over a beat similar to the original...kind of like how he was at the end of th song...

I bought his first album in 1986 and I liked it alot.In addition to "The Rain" (which is arguably the best R&B song of 1986),it included the shoulda-been-a-hit "1-2-1",and some pleasant, lush R&B ballads including a nice remake of the old Moments hit "Not On The Outside".Overall,it was a promising debut.

I also bought his second album 'GTO (Gangsters Taking Over)' in 1987 and while there are a few decent tracks ("I Just Can't Say Goodbye"),the album was lacking a really strong hit. Most of the songs are inoffensive R&B tracks with a slight hip-hop feel, but there was no standout track.

I lost interest in his career after that.

I just listened to it today. It's on an 80's playlist I made on my iPod.

It totally is a pre-cursor to Bob George!

THe other day, I was watching an informercial for some R&B collection (with Peabo Bryson!) and they played some old-school song called "The Rain" which kidna sounded like the chorus from Oran Juice Jones' song. Are they related?

Try not be so literal, y'all. Conceptually, they have commonalities. Both feature an angry, streetwise African-American man revealing the dishonesty/disloyalty of his woman, going off on her etc. in a spoken word diatribe with rather funny comments and analogies.

Oran "Juice" saying he's was giong "pull a Rambo on you" could just as easily be said by Bob George, albeit the latter is more violent.

Both guys also refer to their woman's fur coat (although that's just a minor thing).

I think you're referring to the 1972 song "In The Rain" by the Dramatics. It's on that R&B collection. But no,this song has nothing to do with the Oran "Juice" Jones track.

Dont' you think the way they say "In the rain" sounds a little like how Oran says it in his song? I'm sure he was aware of it and could've been "influenced" or "inspired" by it.
