I Can't Get This Fuckin' Song Outta My Head!

There's no place like home.
With your family around you you're never alone.
When ya know that your loved,
You don't need to roam,
Cause there's no place like home

Time's are changing everyday.
We won't get by with the same old ways.
No-oooo pulling together will make it right.
With help from are friends I know we can right,
Cause there's no place like home.

With your family around you you're never alone.
When you know that your loved,
You don't need to roam.
Cause there ain't no place like,
Better believe it,
I said their no place like home.

"I mean no place child" .

Damn you Marla Gibbs mad lol

I heart 227.

But I skip that theme song on the DVD though. I've heard it too much.

Mary to Sandra:

"If I want my daughter to look like you I'll send her to clown school. And if I want her to act like you I'll leave her there!"

Rude television at its best.

A side note:

"227" and "The Golden Girls" debuted the same year on the same night.

They did a big write up about this same predicament on Salon.com.

I also like Jada Pinkett-Smith, and if you've seen her atrocious (probably the producers fault) acting on "A Different World" you'll see how much che's grown.

I like Rose. She's the "sensible" one to balance out all the madness 'tween Mary, Sandra & Pearl.

She was funny in the episode when Sandra dressed her up as Miss RAQQQUEL.

Seriously, they were great shows. This was when NBC ruled with good sitcoms such as Cheers, The Cosby Show, Night Court and the afore mentioned.

Interesting fact. Same network? I know that "The Golden Girls" was definately on NBC but I keep thinking that "227" was on ABC. Was it? I love both shows but am not ready to buy them on DVD, though. Also, I've noticed that both shows came out on DVD recently and while "227" has a decent price of around $25 but the "Golden Girls" set was like $40! What's up with that?

much bigger shelf life.....lifetime channel got lucky and started playing them and they became a hit all over...actually, lifetime should stop thinking "white woman" only and pick up 227 too...it might resurge lifetimes ratings (which have fallen since golden girls went stale after year and years of repeating)...

You're right. It is said that "Lifetime" is white women's televison only...they really should consider the African American women's market. African American shows are really underapperciated more than ever now of days. It used to be that all the networks tried to aim at African Americans with comdies like "227", "Amen", "A Different World" and these shows would appeal to whites as well. About a decade back, it was up to Fox (remember "Martin", "Living Single", etc.) and then they all up gave up on that. And then it was WB, who were mocked for creating so many African American shows when they started. So what are their hit sticoms now? "Reba" and other shows with mostly white cast members. Now UPN has nothing but African American sitcoms and I think shows like "Girlfriends" and "The Parkers" (RIP) could have appealed to all Americans. TV is so segerated now, with only one niche channel that most African Americans and only African Americans watch...it says something about our culture.

Also, I've noticed that classic African American sitcoms are mostly being issued through a series, prehaps Fox, which packages them all the same and with no special features BUT they are very well priced. "All In the Family" and other classics are also being released through this series. Gotta love the prices and let's face it. who needs special features? It takes enough time to watch the shows as is. Sometimes special features are intimidating becuase you feel you should watch them since you paid for them.

nod

Notice that the segeration of TV has happened recently, when we are yelling at liberal Hollywood and the media. In the eighties, all the networks featured African American and mutlicutural sitcoms. Sad!

We really should get back to discussing the joy of "227"...or should we move this into the P&R forum.
