I guess I won't be spending my money on that set! It's nothing that I don't already have,in some form or another.Last year,I foolishly bought the 3-CD "Ultimate Collection" and I was really disappointed. The edits on many songs are clumsy and messy ("Back In Love Again" fades out during the instrumental segment, totally ignoring the final chorus!),and the whole set seems hastily thrown together. This set appears to be a vast improvement.

It's Donna, so I know you'll be first in line. wink

You'll probably be second in line razz

Didn't Sony like release all of EWF's Greatest Hits on 4 cd's like 3 months ago?Plus the only good GH set worth buying is the GH set from 1998.

I agree, the 1998 "Greatest Hits" CD is perfect. For the casual fan who only wants one disc,it's all they would ever need.

That disc turned me into really wanting to buy EWF's albums

And you should! lol

Instead of all these unnecessary compilations,I'd rather for Sony/Columbia to remaster albums like 'Last Days And Time','Head To The Sky','Faces' and 'Raise'.Give the fans what they REALLY want!

But David....single edit of "You're So Beautiful"! Thanks for the warning against "The Ultimate Collection". I love "Back In Love Again" but if they ruined it and others, there is no point in getting that set.

How could we forget Luther! So many poor budget collections. Hell, the week before or after "Dance With My Father" came out, they released the two disc "The Essentail LV". The big problem with Luther too is that they never seem to get it right although "Essentail" was probably overall the best.

Instead of all these pointless Luther compilations, why don't they just release a multi-disc box set? It's long overdue.

Nope, those albums that I listed ('Last Days and Time','Head To The Sky','Faces' and 'Raise') have not been remastered yet.I think you're referring to their other albums (everything from 'Open Our Eyes' to 'I Am' has indeed been remastered with bonus tracks).

Yes,I'd love to have the rare single edit of "You're So Beautiful",but I'm not gonna buy the whole set just for that one song! lol

I know he will, too. Or he could just go on eBay and buy the CD-R acetate with ALL the Tony Moran/Glenn Friscia mixes.

But those CDRs are expensive! I think the set is going to go as cheap as $14.99 (and that's from Amazon, who tends to be slightly higher than retail store sales). The power of Donna compeals you!

That's fine whatever. So Voices and RipHer....want to have a "Donna Summer Gold" listening party. David isn't invited. Just kidding. I seriously understand your frustration. I almost caved in and bough "The Ultimate Collection" but I'm glad I didn't. The greatest hits thing is a huge problem for her. She needs to get some control of her music, old and new!

Probably! It's major and minor companies ripping his catalog apart into collections. I saw something at Meijer the other day titled "Classic Elvis" that contained a lot of the big hits. It was a budget disc by Camden (whtever that is) was one on the lane, where they keep the impluse buys, but usually no one touches those cheapie discs and movies.

Michael Jackson has put out one too many lately, but its only been to finish with sony. If you look at most legends aka James Brown, the beatles, Queen etc. all of them by there late careers all have way too many best of collections, it's just what seems to happens. either the artist wants to put them out, or the record companies do to make mo money.
