Siamese Dream What a monster of an album! I can't think of another album like it. The guitars, layers upon layers, are absolutely ferocious.
And I'm not really a big fan of The Smashing Pumpkings..I can't stand the goth like image and I never listen to Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness, though I do like the singles from it. When I bought Siamese Dream back in '99 though it just hit me and I always find myself coming back to it. I dunno what compelled me to put it on just now but it certainly makes a change from all the Christmas music of late.

If you like it, you should like Gish and Pisces Iscariot as well. Good stuff.

Pisces Iscariot is VERY much like Siamese Dream...there are a lot of outtakes from SD on it. It also contains my favourite SP song EVER..."Hello Kitty Kat".

When I'm in the mood for the Pumpkins but I don't know what I want to hear, I put on Pisces Iscariot. It's such a great b-sides album.

I don't know about the reviews. But their greatest hits bonus disc only covers the b-sides from '95 on, so no repeats.

I know it got a five star review locally when it came out but I felt at the time it was just following in the 'grunge' wake. Alot of my friends loved it, I thought it sucked before I even heard it. I only started playing it about '97 and really got stuck on it. I don't really like Mellon Collie but it's one of the best albums for that time.

Siamese Dream is a great, solid, rock album. There's absolutely no filler on it, and the songs work so well together. It's funny noone really acknowledges the Pumpkins for their guitar playing, because on most of their albums, they are really good.

Agreed. They have one of my favorite guitar sounds I've ever heard. And that's quite a feat actually - coming up with an unmistakable original sound.

My namesake for this board comes from that very album. Siamese Dream was one of my very first albums that featured "real" music. I couldn't even begin to count how many times I've sung along with this album from beginning to end.
