JANFAN4L said: Heyyy, I kinda dig MMcD's vocals. I love "Yah Mo Be There (with James Ingram," "On My Own (with Patti LaBelle)" and the very best of the lot: "Shine Sweet Freedom"!
I'm pretty sure these songs have been played at every Sizzler restaurant in America ad nauseam, but they're still loved by me. I like his voice. He needs to leave Motown alone and that goes for every non-Motown singer.

Last year for Christmas, my boss gave me his 'Motown' record (why??). I still haven't taken the shrink wrap off of it. Not really sure what to do with it. Hmmm...white elephant gift exchange?

Last night I ran across Austin City Limits on PBS and who was performing?...
...You got it. I caught the end of a tune called Peace (never heard it before). The rest of the set consisted of: Sweet Freedom Keep Forgettin' What's Goin' On Takin' It to the Streets Let me tell you that his band kicked much ass highlighted by some awesome female musicians. Drummer... ...Yvette "Baby Girl" Preyer (www.yvettebabygirlpreyer.com) (this woman is fierce!) Percussionist... ...Crystal Taliefero (www.crystaltaliefero.com) and 2nd Vocalist... ...Drea Rhenee Don't believe me, check out this clip of Takin' It To The Streets from the show - Video clip The theme of the show must have been Blue-Eyed Soul night because the 2nd artist was Joss Stone. Compared to Michael McDonald's set, weak sounding band and weak material. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. NWF said: I'm sorry, I can't. It tried tolerating it, but it's just too whiny and corny. I was just listening to one of his songs here in this cafe, and it just fucking annoyed me.
He's ok,but I prefer him singing on old Steely Dan albums, then by himself. I DON'T WANT TO BE NORMAL,because normal is part of the status quo, which I don't want to be a part of- Tori Amos

Yea sure he might sound like a bear with a mouth full of fish in his mouth, but hell the man can sing. I loved on my own duet w/ patti. The motown cd he did is pretty good also, but i think he is over doing it with that. Its like he is recording every single song motown released. Imagine him trying to do a rick james song..... I like his voice a lot, What A Fool Believes is a timeless classic that I can hear over and over again. I liked Yah Mo B There a lot too. He is one of the very few white singers with crossover potential to black R&B (I mean old school of course) fans, as is proven once again in this thread. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
