They were both released back in '82 and they are classics. So, which album did you like and which one was the most entertaining that year? I can't really choose because they are the greatest, but if I was to name the top or best album of 1982 it would have to be Prince's 1999. Yep, it was one hell of a long record but it was really hip. Thriller, on the other hand, was overrated, but til this day, I play it and it sounds like it was recorded yesterday.

1999 is my fave Prince album!its hypnotic, atmospheric and has a musical range! Also has more songs and longer songs then Thriller.

Thriller, mayne, Thriller. Easily it goes to Thriller, All of the songs sound fantastic to listen to today and less dated than that of 1999. Most songs from thriller still get played in clubs today, and i aint talkin bout no retro joints.

Thriller for me. 1999 just overall hasn't aged as well. If Thriller had been all MJ written songs, than it wouldn't even be close

As for Albums 1999, because Prince didn't milk it for 20+ years after he made it. Every Album Jacko has made it a remake of really "Off the Wall" (Thriller was a improvement, but when you look back 22 years later. It is just another remake to something that was "amazing" for a 8 month period in 1983.

Speaking of Thriller, lets talk about the music video & do a little research of something Jacko "Stole". (He loved using that word in his MJ Home Movies Special on FOX when he was talking about Janet "stealing" his dance style for Rythmn Nation. But in that same special when he talked about himself & the Thriller Era he said he was a "Innovator" )

The Thriller Music Video was stolen FROM The Greg Kihn Band! They did a Music Video in 1983 called "Jeopardy" in which they had Zombies!! Greg was in this video getting married and then all the people in the church became Zombies including his bride! THEN all the Zombies went after him and he fought them off with a piece of wood from the Church Pew (Bench).

Edgier too. I love the production on 1999. "the girl is mine" really lets the album down as a whole. But even without that song, I'd still pick "1999"

Of course, I love both. But there are a couple songs on 1999 that I skip, so I guess I'd begrudgingly choose Thriller.

I love Thriller but 1999 is one of those albums that I'd take on an island and forced me to listen and approach music in a whole different way. 1999 was part of my Musicology lesson plan so I gotta go with P on this one.

Automatic, Lady Cab Driver, DMSR and International Lover keep MJ on the ropes fighting a knock down.
