WHITE STRIPES UNDER THE BLACKPOOL LIGHTS Just picked up this new DVD last night and we were really impressed. It was shot with a 8mm movie camera and reminds me of the old concert movies from the seventies. When Jack gets in the zone he pulls Meg right along with him and it is just so real and organic, simple good music. If you love teir popular music, you'll probably like this and if you like their bluesy, traditional stuff, then you'll love it. The ballroom at Blackpool is beautiful, Meg is beautiful, heck, even Jack is beautiful. Yeah, I know, How does he do it? And the sound that he gets out of those crap guitars. My brother had a Kay guitar... paid fifteen dollars for it. Jack is a genious. I think he was nominated for a Grammy for Van Lear Rose. I really love their attitude that we should love the art and not the artist, but i love them anyway "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss

Thanks for the pic! Sorry that you missed the concert, hopefully there'll be a next time.
I heard a radio interview with Jack and he talked about how much he loved Blackpool. He said they even turned on the tower lights for them, but they didn't show up well on the 8mm film. It was one of their favorite venues so maybe they'll be back. We were in England last May,we were in London and drove to Cornwall, it was all really fabulous and hopefully we'll get back there next year. Next time you're in "sunny" England, believe me, give Blackpool a miss .....Until the Casinos arrive atleast! Or unless The White Stripes are playing at the Ballroom again , coz part from that (and the pee and graffiti cover phone box on the main promenade), there's naff all else to see..... that includes the death trap which is sometimes called the "Pleasure Beach". Thanks for the heads up about Blackpool, though we've gone into some real cesspool clubs to see a good band. Actually, the interview was probably all PR crap but you have to expect some of that.
