Someone please tell me they remeber this...

I remember seeing at least 2 Disney charachter-themed TV specials in the late 80's or early 90's which contained pop music of the time. One was a special on Minnie Mouse, and it featured cartoon clips set to songs including Janet's "Nasty," Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" and The Pointer Sisters' "I'm So Excited." At one point, Minnie even did a duet with Elton John (on "Don't Go Breaking My Heart," I think:lol: ) The other show was about Donald-Duck, and contained a slightly altered version of Huey Lewis' "I Want a New Drug" called "I Want a New Duck."
Does anyone else here know what I'm talking about? Are these shows available anywhere? I't been at least 12 years since I've seen either show, and I'd love to find them again, if only for the sake of nostalgia.
Michael never stopped!

I surre do.

The show was called Disney's DTV. I remember it aired NBC and on the Disney Channel back in the '80s and a few of the videos were even shown and segmented between various Disney Channel shows in the early- to mid-'90s (right before Mousercise).

It was a one-night Disney version of MTV where various Disney cartoon clips were taken and mixed together with all types of music by different artists (Janet, Lionel Richie, Madonna, Stevie Wonder...) creating Disney cartoon music videos. They were undoubtedly spliced together incredibly well. Chip and Dale did a video to one of Madonnas songs, Bambi scenes were spliced into Lionel Richie's "Hello" song, and if I recall, I think the Gummi Bears did a video to one of Elvis Presley's songs "Teddy Bear."

Here's some information about some of the specials.

Disney's DTV Doggone Valentine: This special salutes man's best friend with a series of entertaining clips of favorite dog scenes, culled from Disney's animated features and shorts, set to music from Huey Lewis, Kenny Rogers, Deniece Williams, and others. An Andrew Sold Production in association with Walt Disney Television. Sixty minutes. NBC: February 13, 1987; February 19, 1988. Disney Channel: February 4, 1992; February 2, 1994.

Disney's DTV Monster Hits: Disney salutes Halloween in this slightly scary selection of cartoon clips featuring scenes from various Disney cartoons set to music, including "Bad Moon Rising," "Ghostbusters," and "Monster Mash." Also included was a special montage of Disney villains ssset to the Eurythmics' hit "Sweet Dreams." A Walt Disney Television Production. Thirty minutes. NBC: October 30, 1987. Rebroadcast on Disney Channel.

Disney's DTV Valentine: Love-themed clips from various Disney cartoons set to rock music. An Andrew Salt Production in association with Walt Disney Television. Sixty minutes. NBC: February 14, 1986; September 7, 1986.

Many of these songs were issued on laserdisc (a now outdated format) back in 1986. They were only available in Japan though.
