Seriously, he was one of the first rappers (that I knew of) to show love to Fela. I can't wait for his next joint to drop. Though, I'm a little upset that this ablum will be more blue collar than experimental. I'll take what I can get, hopefully he's still working with Jay Dee.

I like exactly one song by Common: "Beats By The Pound (Remix)", only because he drops a bunch of ill lines and sometimes punchlines or song interpolations (like he's Grand Puba or something).

I generally don't appreciate his condescending tone (often described as "preachy").

Common is not only a top lyricist but he's rare commodity in these R&B (Rap & Bullsh*t) days - great delivery of lyrics over proper experimental songs that do actually sound like he knows about proper black music history instead of just ripping it off like most of these so-called rap "artists" do (I use the term "artist" very loosely).

His last 3 albums have proved that he is one of the best artists out there, trying to dig deeper than all that phoney ass rap & bullsh*t that rules the airwaves. The shit that is liked & bought by people who dont know about good music or music history. You know who you are - just taking on board & lapping up whatever they feed you

I downloaded Eletric Circus after all the kerfuffle about him on here a couple of years back. listened to it twice, and deleted it. Nothing special, pretty boring infact.

Won't be revisiting him again.

I love this album, this is one rap album that I keep in my car at all times. I love that cut with him and D'angelo and the one with him and Bilal, oh my gosh, gotta play it again.....

Common is one fine man (with his hat on.)I like a few of his songs, but as for his skills and status in the underground rap scene, the name says it all.
