The Arcade Fire, Anyone?

I've been trying to get into this band's latest album, and it's one of those that isn't exactly easy for me to warm up to, but I find myself thinking about what I've heard quite often. Apparently, this band is geared up to be the next "it" band, a la Franz Ferdinand, and the Strokes before them, and so on...and really, I hope they do become ubiquitous in hipster circles. Why? Because the band is...odd. They're challenging. They have a vision and an asthetic that's very unique. As for influences, they sound like they're somewhere between Bjork and ELO by way of Talking Heads and chamber music. I have no problem with that...

i love this cd! the talking heads reference is dead on it! i also hear a lot of bowie in there and, now that you mention it, ELO is in there...its kinda like those old prego pasta sauce adverts, lol!

i'm digging this cd...its one of the few cds that's on my "on a walkabout" playlist on my ipod.

the sixth track reeks of ELO to me...kinda reminds me of how i thought grandaddy copped some ELO style in their music when i first heard "software slump".
