Why Is God So Cruel To The Music Industry?

Cases in point:

Aaliyah: Easily the best of the young, not a girl not yet a woman set, yet who are we left with? Britney Spears?

Axl Rose: A dangerous and charismatic figure who's been shut away for over a decade making an album that will never be. Mentally ill yet people can't wait to hear from him. Who's left? Limp Biscuit.

Kurt Cobain: Tortured genius who wrote poetically esoteric lyrics and ushered in a new sound. Killed himself. Left behind Simple Plan sound-alikes.

Courtney Love: Rock Goddess who just can't seem to get it together. Hobbled by mental and drug issues. Who's left? Ashlee Simpson et al.

These are just a few of God's little tricks on the music industry. I'm sure there's plenty more injustices. It's enough to make one athiestic (I'm full of drama today).

wtf does god have to do with axle rose and his ego? "A dangerous and charismatic figure" falloff dangerous to who? His career? lol

leave god out of this, bring in people who pack too much shit on a small plane or a drug addict who is raising a kid, lol

better yet, pick up a guitar and make some music rather than talk about a business that is in much need of a change

Axl was a racist hick. Remember "Welcome to The Jungle"? Yes, I know the wanker went all George Wallace on us, but he's still a prick. He can't get it together to make an album? Fuck him.

Courtney Love: Rock Goddess who just can't seem to get it together. Hobbled by mental and drug issues. Who's left? Ashlee Simpson et al.

Self-promoting, willfully self-sabotaging petty scandal addict Courtney is also miraculously untalented. "Rock Goddess"? Her dead ex-husband wrote her best album.

Pleadon't tell me you're one of those? Read the lyrics to "In Utero" then "Live Through This" and then tell me they were written by the same person?se

Axl's immigrants and faggots/police and niggers predates Eminem and is more derisive. He caused riots, let his paranoia and ego go astray and literally destroyed his bad more then the booze and drugs. But people couldn't take their eyes off him and he was largely responsible for the GNR sound and direction.

And perhaps one of God's cruelest jokes - he killed Jim Croce & then made him a big star & tortured us with his music for years & years afterwards.

First I shall kill him so you think his music will be gone then - poof - its everywhere.

Is Jim Croce THAT bad?

I'm sure people would say the same thing about Tupac Shakur even though he was a voice for disaffected black male youth way before he died.

Prince: How someone so wierd and unstable could be blessed with so much talent is one of God's cruel jokes. If only he could be more level-headed like the woefully less talented Madonna he'd be much more tolerable. Instead we get him promoting the hell out of a ain't-bad album while doing the same thing for something like "Sign O' The Times" would've not only been welcome, but more smart.

Don't even try - on any level - to compare Jim Croce to Tupac Shakur.
Just don't.
Its too absurd.

Maybe Courtney wrote the lyrics but Kurt wrote most of the music. How else do you account for the fact that Hole were crap before that album and after it - and that Muzzzz Love's solo album was a catastrophe?

Axl's immigrants and faggots/police and niggers predates Eminem and is more derisive.

Sounded like straight up racism and homophobia to me. In fact, Axl was both those things. You can read an interview with Izzy Stradlin in Nick Kent's great book, "The Dark Stuff". Stradlin says that NWA approached GNR to use a sample on one of their songs. They were all for it but Axl nixed it because he didn't want to work with black people. .

He caused riots, let his paranoia and ego go astray and literally destroyed his bad more then the booze and drugs. But people couldn't take their eyes off him and he was largely responsible for the GNR sound and direction.

Yeah, you know, people couldn't take their eyes off Adolf Hitler either. He caused a World War. He let his paranoia and ego go astray and ruined his country.

Axl wasn't the talent in the band. Everyone else was. See, the minute Slash and Co decamped, Axl hired a guy with an upside down KFC bucket on his head. Result? "Where'd my album go?" Fuck him. Fuck his band. He's no loss.

say what you want to about the way he looks, but BUCKETHEAD ain't no joke. that guy can play. that was one of the BEST acquisitions axl ever scored.

too bad buckethead left due to inactivity with the band though.....sad

how can you say that axl WASN'T a talent? he wrote some of their biggest hits! and whether you like the guy or not, he DOES have a signature sound--when he's singing, you KNOW who it is.

I'll say it again. Axl was a talentless racist hick who just happened to have a great band behind him. Left to his own devices Axl's done nothing but get fat, grow dreadlocks and flush most of his career down the toilet.

I think the cruel joke is that someone so memrable hs to be a racist hick. Why can't the talented ones have a smidgen of normalcy.

I think Axl's downward spiral has more to do with his bipolar tendancies. He's anxiety ridden and paranoid about living up to past glories. It's a miracle that some memorable songs came from the bloatedness of "Use Your Illusion" because he wanted so bad to "bury" "Appetite For Destruction". Again a more level-headed person would've put out something that built on the strengths of "Appetite".
